Wildcats keep wins rolling on diamond

The Wildcats (20-2-1 overall, 5-1 in District 4-4A) won four of five games last week and swept a two-game district series early in the week.
On Monday, March 30, Oak Ridge edged Lenoir City 4-2 at Bobby Hopkins Field.
The Wildcats fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning.
Oak Ridge seized the upper hand by scoring all four of its runs in the third.
Mikee Teasley, a University of Tennessee signee, turned in a solid performance on the mound as he tossed a complete game. He pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out 16.
Offensively, Brooks Poteet went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Joe Webb had a hit and stole four bases.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats made the return trip to Loudon County to face the Panthers, and this time, no comeback was necessary as Oak Ridge blanked Lenoir City 10-0 in five innings.
Parker Free doubled and drove in two runs, while Jaiden Cheaverton went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Warren East walked twice, stole three bases and scored two runs. Teasley walked twice, scored two runs and stole five bases.
On Thursday, Oak Ridge toppled Knoxville West 7-1.
East went 3-for-4 with a run scored. West singled and scored, while Webb singled and scored.
Free added a single and an RBI, while Teasley went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Wildcats suffered their second loss of the season on Friday, falling to Science Hill 10-3.
In its other game Friday, Oak Ridge downed Knoxville Central 9-5.
Teasley went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. East went 1-for-2 and scored three runs, while Webb tripled, scored twice and drove in a run. Free singled and had an RBI.
