Clark leads Lady Mavs through tough stretch
Anderson County High School’s flag football team dropped two of three games last week.
The Lady Mavericks opened the week with an 18-7 region loss at Stone Memorial on Thursday.
Ella Clark starred on offense for Anderson County, hauling in 18 receptions. She also scored the Lady Mavericks’ lone touchdown on a running play. Clark played quarterback for Anderson County in all three games last week.
On Saturday, the Lady Mavericks won their lone tournament victory, blanking Happy Valley 12-0 behind a strong defensive effort.
In that game, Clark threw a touchdown pass to Lexi Hawkins, and Marissa Valero added a touchdown run.
The Lady Mavs closed tournament play with a 32-12 loss to Coalfield.
“We’re still trying to figure some things out,” Anderson County coach Jonathan Cotton said. “Our defense, minus the Coalfield game, didn’t give up 20 points.
“Our defense is playing really well.”
