Clinton High School’s track and field teams competed Saturday at South-Doyle High School in South Knoxville, and both the Dragons and Lady Dragons posted strong marks.

A school record fell for the Lady Dragons as Kenzlee Hutchison won the girls shot put with a toss of 34 feet, 3 inches.

Clinton’s Maliyah Drake also had a big day, posting a personal-best effort in the long jump to win the event with a leap of 15 feet. The mark was nearly 2 feet better than her previous best of 13-2.

“Kenzlee was amazing with the school record,” Clinton Coach Tim Kimes said. “Maliyah did a great job. We were standing there when she did it, and we knew it was going to be special.

“She went 15 feet, and her previous best was 13-2.”

The personal record was only part of a big day for Drake, who finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 28.21 seconds. She also placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.15.

Lady Dragons distance runner Lily West finished second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 14 minutes, 38.67 seconds. She also came in fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:43.42.

Clinton’s Isabella Morabito was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.70. Saviah Stewart finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.41 and fifth in the 100-meter dash in 13.14.

Clinton had a pair of top-10 finishers in the 400-meter dash as Eva Allen was eighth in 1:14.46 and Amelia Damewood ninth in 1:15.55.

For the Dragons, Cooper Bostrom won the 3,200-meter run in 11:31.36. Baylor Cool finished third in 12:09.00. Cool also placed seventh in the 800-meter run.

Sprinter Ryin Jones was third in the 100-meter dash in 11.52 and fourth in the 200 in 23.31.

“Ryin did a great job for us,” Kimes said.
