Norris Fellowship plant sale will be Saturday

The sale is conducted each year by the church’s Women’s Fellowship, and features bamboo stakes, garden décor, spring blooming plants, llama manure, and more.
A church announcement said that llama manure is “a highly prized organic ‘cool’ fertilizer rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, low odor, and weed free that can be applied directly to plants,” and noted that the “supply is limited.”
This year’s event is coordinated by former master gardeners Kathy Decker and Paulette Booker, the church said, who will be assisted by master gardener Yvonne Webb and members of the church.
Norris master gardener Janet Donaldson will host a workshop on “Transplanting Flowers and Vegetables” at 10:30 a.m. inside the church. The announcement said that most of the plants sold at the event will need to be transplanted.
Proceeds from the event will help support Women’s Fellowship activities, such as Good Neighbors, the Norris Food Pantry, Community Action, prayer shawls, Vacation Bible School, emergency assistance and church repairs and operations, the church said.
The church also is seeking plant donations for the sale. Those may be brought to the church on Friday morning, and there will be help available for unloading them until noon.
Decorative pots and garden items may be left in the shed, the church said, and anyone who needs help in digging up plants to donate may call the church at 865-494-7131, and leave a message for Kathy Decker or Paulette Booker.
