Webb, Teasley pace Wildcats’ 3-3 week
A busy week ended with a split for the Oak Ridge High School baseball team, which played six games and won three.
The week started on a high note for the Wildcats as they swept a District 4-4A series from Rhea County.
In the series opener at home against the Golden Eagles, Oak Ridge posted a 5-0 victory as Mikee Teasley and Jaiden Cheaverton combined on a three-hit shutout.
Teasley started and pitched six innings. He allowed two hits and three walks while striking out 17. Cheaverton finished the game by pitching the seventh inning. He struck out two and gave up one hit.
Teasley also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Parker Free had three hits, including a double, and drove in one run while scoring another. Warren East singled, scored and stole two bases.
On April 14, the Wildcats made the return trip to Rhea County and earned an 11-4 victory as Joe Webb hit two home runs and drove in five runs. He also scored twice. Free doubled, had two hits, drove in three runs and scored once. Teasley singled and scored, while East had two hits, three stolen bases and a run scored.
Webb also homered in an 8-4 win over Greeneville, the defending Class AAA state champion. He drove in four runs. Teasley had two hits, scored and stole a base.
In a 3-2 loss to Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett on Friday, Free hit a home run.
Oak Ridge also dropped a 12-9 decision to Elder, Ohio, on Friday despite getting three hits from Carson Feagan, who doubled, drove in two runs and scored once. Webb singled and scored two runs, while Max Drige had three hits and an RBI.
The Wildcats closed the week with a 3-1 loss to Jefferson County. Oak Ridge was held to four hits. Teasley stole a base and scored a run.
