Early voting continues through April 30

Early voting began last Wednesday for the May 5 Anderson County primary election, and will run until Thursday, April 30.

The key race is for the Republican nomination for county mayor, in which incumbent, Terry Frank faces challenger Joshua Anderson, who is now a District 3 county commissioner.

As of the end of the day Monday, April 20, there had been 1,930 people voting by machine at the three early-voting polling sites, and an additional 77 by mail-in ballots, for a total early-vote count of 2,007.

Of that total, 1,760 voted in the Republican primary, while 247 had cast their ballots in the Democratic primary.

The May 5 primary includes Republicans and Democrats seeking spots on the Aug. 6 general election ballot.

There are three locations for early voting:

• Anderson County Fair Association building, 218 Nave St., Clinton.

• Midtown Community Center, 102 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge.

• Anderson County Government Offices, Anderson Crossing Shopping Center (Norris/Andersonville), 3324 Andersonville Highway, next door to Anderson Crossing Pharmacy.

Voting hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. until noon Saturday.
