Veterans breakfast Saturday at Community Center

Pictured is the Rev. William Ward Sr. He served in World War II during the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway, and was a Pearl Harbor veteran. Ward passed away in November 2022, but his legacy lives on through the monthly veterans appreciation breakfast inspired by his efforts to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans. The chow line opens at 8:30 a.m. and there will be a brief program at 9 a.m. honoring veterans.
This month’s breakfast, hosted by Anderson County citizens, is sponsored by Norris First Baptist Church, and the doughnuts are provided by County Commissioner Anthony Allen.
These breakfasts are held to recognize and honor veterans and their families for their service to the United States.
Many generous donors are also recognized for providing door prizes, including a monthly gift card donated by the East Tennessee Foundation for Women Veterans.
Anderson County residents and community volunteers are working together to make the breakfasts a free monthly event that will allow veterans of all ages and branches to fellowship and share stories together.
Veterans are welcome to bring spouses, family or friends.
The city of Clinton is recognized as a special sponsor for hosting the monthly location and setup. Local media are especially recognized for their role in letting veterans know about the breakfasts each month.
