Anderson County resident Steve Day was recognized last week with a plaque and proclamation from County Mayor Terry Frank.

The special recognition, in which May 20 was proclaimed as “Mr. Steve Day Day,” honored him for his longtime dedication and financial contributions to the Anderson County Office on Aging and Senior Center.

“I am grateful for Steve’s investments in the well-being of seniors in our community,” Frank said in a press release. “We wanted to make sure he was honored for his compassion – and the difference his contributions make in the lives of seniors.”

Day, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and his wife, Kay, who passed away in 2015, owned and operated a local gun shop and sporting goods store for 20 years.

A longtime Clinton resident, Day now spends most of his weekdays with friends at the Anderson County Office on Aging and Senior Center, to which he has donated a large amount of money for programming and senior needs over the last several years.
