County revives animal disaster response team

Anderson County has reestablished its Disaster Animal Response Team to help care for pets and livestock during emergencies.

The team, known as DART, provides coordinated care, temporary sheltering and evacuation assistance for animals during severe weather, flash flooding and other large-scale emergencies.

The county is seeking volunteers for several roles, including animal handling and care, logistics, administration, transportation and field operations.

No prior emergency management or veterinary experience is required. Training and certifications will be provided.

To volunteer or request more information, send a direct message through the county’s Facebook page or email program manager Karen Ooten at kooten@andersoncountytn.gov.
