A pair of Anderson County High School track and field athletes received All-State honors from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association when the organization released its postseason teams last week.

Seniors Ava Moody and Joseph Hall earned the recognition after capturing individual state championships.

The two Mavericks were named to the TSWA Class AA All-State Team following their performances at the TSSAA State Track and Field Championships at the University of Tennessee’s Tom Black Track in Knoxville.

Moody, a distance specialist for the Lady Mavericks, won both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs, completing the distance double for the first time in her illustrious career.

She won the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 1.68 seconds, and captured the 3,200 in 11:18.06.

Moody leaves Anderson County as one of the school’s most decorated athletes, winning eight combined indoor and outdoor track state championships along with two Class A-AA cross-country titles.

Hall claimed the Class AA long-jump championship with a leap of 22 feet, 9.25 inches, earning the first state title of his career.

In Class AAA, Oak Ridge High School senior Mason Greenhalgh also earned TSWA All-State honors after winning the 800-meter run state championship for the second time in three seasons.

He posted a winning time of 1:52.51. Greenhalgh also captured the event in 2024 before finishing as the state runner-up in 2025.

A three-sport athlete for the Wildcats, Greenhalgh also excelled in cross country and swimming.

In cross country, he finished third at the 2025 Region 2-AAA championships with a time of 16:11.83, before placing 29th at the state meet in 16:31.15.

In swimming, Greenhalgh qualified for the state championships in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. He also competed on two state-qualifying relay teams for the Wildcats.
