The Wildcats went up against two of the area’s top private-school programs in Christian Academy of Knoxville and Concord Christian School.
The Warriors captured the three-way match with a team score of 148. Oak Ridge finished 11 strokes back at 159, while the Lions placed third with a 167.
Freshman Britten Lutrell set the pace for the Wildcats, firing a 37 on the par-36 front nine.
Senior newcomer Jonah Wolfe and Kaleb Jackson each carded a 40, while senior Braxton Pemberton rounded out Oak Ridge’s scoring with a 42.
ORHS Coach Scott Hinton said he was pleased with his team’s performance but would like to see the Wildcats shave a few strokes from their scores as the season progresses.
“I would like to see us shoot between 150 and 155 consistently, but I’m happy with where we’re at,” Hinton said. “Jonah is a first-year senior and I’m pleased with him because he’s been shooting between 38-44 consistently.”
Lady Wildcats also take second: Oak Ridge also claimed runner-up honors in its three-team match against CAK and Concord Christian.
The Lady Warriors won with a team score of 84. The Lady Wildcats finished second with a 100, five strokes ahead of the Lady Lions, who posted a 105.
Brynn Green led Oak Ridge with a 49, while Lilli Grace Langenberg finished with a 51.
