Oak Ridge volleyball looks to dig out
The Oak Ridge High School volleyball team entered the 2026 season with high hopes, but the Lady Wildcats are still searching for consistency two weeks into the season.
Oak Ridge is off to a 4-7 start and owns a 2-2 record in District 3-AAA play.
The Lady Wildcats have dropped district matches to Anderson County and Knoxville Central, while picking up league victories over Powell and Knoxville Halls.
“We haven’t played up to our potential,” Oak Ridge Coach Meghan Ellis said. “We have some time to get things figured out, but we’re going to have to hurry because we’re two weeks into the season. And you’re going to blink and then it’s going to be over.”
Last week was a challenging one for Oak Ridge. The Lady Wildcats lost matches to Kingston and Alcoa on Monday, Aug. 24, before falling to the Lady Bobcats the following night.
Oak Ridge bounced back Thursday, closing the week on a positive note by defeating Halls in four sets.
