Langenberg’s career low highlights week
Oak Ridge High School golf featured a career-best performance during a pair of matches last week.
The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats opened the week Monday, Aug. 31, at Avalon Golf Course in Loudon County, where Oak Ridge competed against Hardin Valley, Farragut and Knoxville Central.
Oak Ridge Coach Scott Hinton used the match to give some of his less-experienced golfers an opportunity to compete.
“I took more of my B lineup than I did my A players,” Hinton said. “We shot 177 as a team. Senior Jonah Wolfe led us with a 40.”
The Lady Wildcats posted a team score of 109, led by sophomore Brynn Green, who shot a 54.
Oak Ridge returned to the course Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Green Meadow Country Club in Alcoa, competing against Christian Academy of Knoxville and Maryville.
That’s where junior Lilli Langenberg turned in the week’s biggest highlight for Oak Ridge.
Langenberg fired a career-best to lead the Lady Wildcats, who finished with a team score of 93.
“She had a career-low match. She shot 45,” Hinton said. “I’m really proud of her.”
The Oak Ridge boys posted a team score of 166 at Green Meadow, with freshman Titus Petrucci leading the Wildcats.
“He actually led us; he shot a 40,” Hinton said.
