Dragons win by one on Deerfield links
Clinton boys golf competed in just one match last week, edging Campbell County by one stroke, 161-162, at The Greens at Deerfield in LaFollette.
Senior Grant Hannah, the Dragons’ No. 1 player, was top for Clinton with a 37.
“Grant Hannah led the way for us like he always does,” Dragons Coach Matt Cain said.
“JP (Robbins), my No. 2 man, came through for us again and shot a 40.”
Eric Newport, Clinton’s No. 3 player, and Cal Kirkpatrick each carded a 42 to round out the Dragons’ scoring.
“Eric Newport, my 3-man, shot a 42,” Cain said.
“And then Cal Kirkpatrick is normally my No. 5, but he played the No. 4” and also shot a 42.
Union County also participated in the match but did not have enough golfers to post a team score.
“I think they only had three guys there, so they couldn’t have competed as a team,” Cain said.
