Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Incident Reports
• Vandalism — A deputy responded to Clinton Highway in Powell on Sept. 14 after a Flock camera near Raccoon Valley Road was reported damaged.
According to the report, the camera had been moved and its power cord cut. Deputies determined the camera was no longer receiving power. No suspects were identified at the time of the report.
• Property damage — Deputies responded to a business on Lake City Highway in Clinton on Sept. 15 after damage was reported to the floor of a refrigerated loading dock.
The complainant told deputies the damage occurred while a delivery was being unloaded. Deputies reviewed photographs and determined the wooden floor appeared to have several areas that had been repaired or patched previously. The damage was estimated at less than $500.
• Driver cited — An Anderson County deputy stopped a vehicle on Offutt Road on Sept. 15 after reportedly observing it traveling 72 mph in a posted 50 mph zone on Lake City Highway.
According to the report, the vehicle briefly continued before stopping in a field. Deputies said the driver had a suspended license. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered hypodermic needles, tin caps with residue and small bags containing residue.
The driver was released pending charges of speeding, driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Driver arrested — A deputy stopped a vehicle near State Route 95 and Oak Ridge Turnpike on Sept. 15 for an alleged seat belt violation.
A records check showed the driver’s North Carolina license was suspended and that the driver had an active fugitive warrant from Haynes, North Carolina. The driver was taken into custody.
• Property damage — Deputies responded to Wells Road in Powell on Sept. 15 after a construction vehicle reportedly damaged a retaining wall.
The vehicle’s taillight was damaged during the incident, and pieces of the light were found near the damaged wall. A construction worker acknowledged that the incident occurred. The property owner estimated the damage at more than $1,000.
• Disturbance — Deputies responded to Jones Lane in Clinton on Sept. 15 after receiving a report of a disturbance involving occupants of rental properties.
Deputies were told several people had been running between properties after a party was discovered. Deputies observed numerous vehicles and people at the location and reported a strong odor of marijuana.
The property owners asked the occupants to leave. No property damage was reported, and the incident was documented for information purposes.
• Stolen wallet — A woman reported a wallet stolen from a building on Briceville Highway on Sept. 16.
She believed the wallet had been taken three or four days earlier while she was asleep. It contained identification, insurance cards, a Social Security card and other personal documents.
The woman told deputies someone later attempted to use information associated with her bank account. She contacted her bank and canceled her debit card. The case was referred to the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.
