Career milestones mark Lady Dragons’ stretch

Senior middle blocker Parker McGhee recorded the 300th block of her career during Clinton’s straight-set district victory over rival Oak Ridge on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Clinton High School.
“I’m certain it’s a school record even though we don’t have official records,” Lady Dragons Coach Lorri Johnson said.
McGhee wasn’t the only Lady Dragon to reach a milestone.
Johnson recorded the 700th victory of her high school head coaching career — including 144 at Clinton — when the Lady Dragons swept Halls on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Clinton finished the regular season 23-11 overall and 10-4 in district play, earning the No. 3 seed in this week’s district tournament.
The Lady Dragons defeated Gibbs 3-1 to advanced to a showdown with rival Anderson County on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The match was scheduled after The Courier News’ press deadline.
Against Oak Ridge, Maggie Moke led Clinton with 11 kills while adding three aces and three digs. Anslee Carmichael had eight kills, two aces and six digs.
Jailie Rodd contributed four kills, 12 assists, 11 digs and an ace, while Alaina Staudenmaier recorded 12 assists and nine digs.
Hanna Harvey had eight digs, Brooke Pebley recorded four blocks and Maggie Turbyville added three digs.
