Library Events

The following activities for October will be at Clinton Public Library, 118 South Hicks Street.

• Ghost stories

Join Clinton Public Library on Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. for an evening of ghost stories, told by professional award winning storyteller Paul Strickland.

“This is a program full of smart and spooky storytelling aimed at adults and teens, featuring haunting old tales, eerie folklore, and suspenseful stories,” the library’s announcement stated.

Strickland has performed ghost stories Off-Broadway at SoHo Playhouse, appeared at the National Storytelling Festival and the International Storytelling Center and been featured on SiriusXM. He was also selected for the National Storytelling Festival’s prestigious Ghost Story Program.

The event is recommended for adults and teens due to some more mature and suspenseful elements.

• Food for Fines

From Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, Clinton Public Library is once again offering a Food for Fines program to assist patrons with overdue or lost item fines and fees, as well as a chance to give to members of our community who need help!

For the month of October, if a patron donates a non-perishable, unexpired food item through the library, they will receive a credit of $2 toward any existing fines on their account.

This is a great way to handle any built up fees, and also give to your community. Staff at the front desk will accept items during regular business hours.

Items will be donated to the Anderson County Community Aid Commission, a local non-profit that has been in operation since 1965.

For more ways to help your community, check their website, or ask your library staff for other groups in the area that are always looking for compassionate assistance, the library website stated.
