Lady Dragons’ season ends in district tournament

Despite the setbacks Clinton High School’s girls soccer team endured this season, Lady Dragons Coach Anna Orr found plenty of positives to take away from the campaign.

Clinton’s season came to an end Monday evening, Oct. 12, with a 3-0 loss to Union County in a District 4-2A tournament play-in game.

Despite the defeat, Orr praised the efforts of three seniors who helped lead the Lady Dragons in their final match.

“I feel like Topanga Easterday (center midfielder) is a really strong player at baseline. She had a great game,” Orr said. “I also think Emoree White (forward) had a really strong game.

“Our keeper, Isabella Geoffrion, did have several good saves,” she added.

Although the Lady Dragons struggled in the win-loss column this season, Orr said she was pleased with her team’s determination.

“I’m still pleased with the effort we’ve made this season,” she said.

With the season now behind them, Orr is turning her attention toward the offseason and preparing her returning players for a stronger showing next year.

“You know, we’ve got a lot of work to do,” Orr said. “We’ve got a lot of work to put in the next little bit in the offseason. But I’m excited to get to work on strength and conditioning and building them up technically.

“But I think they’re going to be greatly improved.”
