Herbert Bray, 70, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at his residence.
He was born in Devonia on Dec. 8, 1948, to the late Willis and Elsie Phillips Bray. He enjoyed going to church with his church family and friends. Herbert loved and cherished his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching football. In earlier years, he loved hunting.
In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by: Brothers, Paul and Harold Dean Bray; sisters, Pauline McMahan Wicks, Shirley Faye Bray, Peggy Sue Wolanin and Fredia Foust; and son, Terry Bray,
Survived by: Wife, Jewell Burress Bray of Clinton; children, Luke Bray of Columbus, Ohio, Carlos Bray of Las Vegas, Nev., Tina Pristas of LaFollette, Stacy Baird and husband Brian of Louisville, Ronnie Amos and wife Sarah of Maryville; sister, Annette Lane and husband Ray of Clinton; brother-in-law, Lee Wicks; sister-in-law, Lynn Bray; seven grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and many other family member and friends.

Herbert’s interment will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Patricia Ruth Maupin Potter, 78, Lake City, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019.
She was born on May 24, 1941, in Jellico, to the late Henry and Nell Elliott Lindsay. She enjoyed rose gardening, playing cards, puzzles, and taking trips to Las Vegas and Cherokee, as well as taking her Friday trips to Cracker Barrel. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved God and was a member of Grace Connection Church. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by: Husbands, John C. Maupin, and Oral Potter; brother, Donald Lindsay; sisters, Doris Chapman and Betty Sue Lindsay; grandson Jeremy Dople; daughter-in-law, Alice Maupin.

Geneva Phillips Bunch, 81, Clinton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at Athens Place in Athens.
Geneva and her husband, Raven, owned and operated Bunch’s Woodworking Shop in Oak Ridge. Throughout her life Geneva loved hunting, fishing and camping with her husband.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Raven Bunch; parents, Perry and Flora Phillips; twin brother, Gene Phillips; brother, Ronaldean Phillips; sisters, Bobbie Whaley and Faye Wilson.
She is survived by: Son, Francis Gene Bunch and wife Joy; grandchildren, Eric Bunch and wife Sarah of Riceville, Misty Bunch, Greg Bunch and wife Patty, and Adam Bunch and wife Nicole; sisters, Ruby Tackett of Caryville, Margaret Barber of Lake City, and Pat and husband Larry Daugherty of Oliver Springs; brothers, Troy and wife Bernice of Lake City and Frank Phillips and wife Wilma of Oliver Springs; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews

The Rev. Leland Ray Mayfield, 60, Lake City, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at his residence.
Leland was born Sept. 18, 1959, in Alexandria, Va., to the late Levan Ray and Edna Pearce Mayfield. He was a member of Deep Spring Baptist Church and worked for the town of Oliver Springs in the water department. Leland worked at Anderson County Park for 13 years as a manager. He was a singer and songwriter and loved playing all music. Leland loved spending time with his granddaughters.
Survivors: Wife, Hazel Lowe Mayfield of Lake City; daughters, Amanda Pyle and Steve Jr. of Lake City, Tonya Bradley and Rusty of Lake City; sisters, Karen Stovall and Jeff of Clinton, Diane Spencer of Lake City; granddaughters, Chelsey, Alyson and Peyton Pyle, Caitlyn and Brooklyn Bradley; special family, Ray, Teresa and Anna McWilliams; several nieces and nephews and a host of special family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at Hatmaker Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scotty Collins and the Rev. Doug Fielden officiating.

Earl “Bud-Bud” Hammons, 90, Clinton, passed away at his home Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019.
He was born on April 18, 1929, in Clinton, to the late Roy and Thelma Slover Hammons. Bud was a United States Marine veteran having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, gardening and stock-car racing.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by: Wife, Faye Hammons; sister, Marie Pyle; brothers-in-law, Delton Pyle, Bill Leinart, Ray Russell, John Hill, Amos Rhea, Junior Rhea; sisters-in-law, Aldeane Gill, Dorothy Rhea; mother and father-in-law, Cloris and Carlos Rhea
Survived by: Sister, Francis Leinart; sisters-in-law, Jean Russell and Von Rhea; brother-in-law, Sonny Gill; several nieces and nephews that Bud counted as children.
The family received friends from 2 – 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.
Bud’s funeral service followed in the chapel at 3 p.m. with Preacher Johnny Rhea officiating. Interment was at Blowing Spring Cemetery following funeral service.

KENNETH DWIGHT MAGILL

Kenneth Dwight Magill passed away at his home in Dutch Valley Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, 2019.
He was the son of the late Charles and Anna Magill. Their family was one of many families displaced from the Wheat Community by the government in preparation for the Manhattan Project.
Following his high school graduation and Kenneth joined the United States Army at the age of 19. As the war progressed, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge under General George Patton. These events he never spoke of for many years.
Kenneth and his late wife, Jane Teno Magill, were active in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.
He was preceded in death by: Twin sisters, and their husbands, Eula and Henderson Cooper and Beulah and James Cooper; brother-in-law, Woodrow Wall; younger brother, Joe Magill.
He is survived by: Sister, Marie Magill Wall of Charlotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Mary Farmer Magill of Clinton; many nieces, nephews, as well as cousins and friends in the Harriman area.
The family wishes to thank his faithful care givers as well as the church family and members of the community.
The family will have a graveside service 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors at graveside.
Anyone not able to attend the graveside can come to Holley Gamble Funeral Home and sign the register book.

Robert Wayne Rutherford, better known as Robbie, 41, Clinton, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2019. at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
He loved his family. Robbie enjoyed fishing, playing video games, and loved music.
Robbie was preceded in death by: Mother, Charlene Foust; daughter, Serena Rutherford; and brother, James Charles Rutherford; grandparents, Fayetta Rutherford, and Charles Allen.
Robbie is survived by: Father and step-mother, Rickey and Syble Rutherford of Clinton; wife, Jennifer Rutherford of Lake City; son, Zandar Rutherford of Maryville; daughters, Shayna Rutherford of Lake City, Kaylee Rutherford of Lake City, Skyelar Rutherford of Maryville, Jaylynn Rutherford of Lake City; brothers, Rickey Lee Rutherford of Knoxville, James Dustin Rutherford of Clinton; sister, Rhiannon Rutherford of Berea, Ky.; grandparents, James and Ruby of Caryville, and Fannie Allen of Georgia; special aunts, Patricia Rutherford, Rhonda Bunch, Missy Gianbolvo; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mona F. Eppstein, 86, Norris, peacefully passed Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, after a very short and well cared for stay in Norris Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mona was born Oct. 26, 1932, at the Woman’s Hospital in Detroit, Mich., to parents Albert and Rose Rosenberg. She was married in 1955 to Julius Eppstein at the B’nai Jacob Synagogue in Toledo, Ohio. After the loss of her husband and years of living up north in Ohio, Mona moved south to Norris, where she resided at Norris Garden Apartments.
Mona is survived by many LOVING family members: Brother, Lou “Butch” Rosenberg and wife Peggy reside in Toledo, Ohio, and two sons Chris and Marcus.
Mona’s Children, Cathy Terry resides in Omaha, Neb., Renee’ Sharp and husband John reside in Andersonville, David Eppstein and wife Beata reside in Walled Lake, Mich.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Alexa Christiansen and husband Chad, Ryan Sharp and wife Lara Beth, Jill Hubbard and husband Justin, Caleb, Jacob, Aiden and Ethan Eppstein, Jaxon, Brynlee, Jessa, Jorja and Sam. Much love to the many nephews and nieces and dear cousins.
