ROBERT DONALD ‘BOB’ PAQUETTE

Robert Donald “Bob” Paquette, 90, Norris, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Bob was a member of Norris Public Safety since the late 1970’s, was a trained firefighter for the Norris Fire Department, a dispatcher for the Norris Police and Fire departments, a 32nd Degree Mason at the Andersonville Lodge, a member of the Elks Club in Oak Ridge, a member of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Clinton Church of Christ. He was a happy member of the community of Norris and the larger community of Anderson County, always ready to serve, and always delighted to give of his time. He could be seen every Fourth of July for decades, flipping burgers and roasting hot dogs for the Norris Fire Department.

Bob Paquette was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and the Korean Conflict, having flown 32 bombing missions over Korea, where he also received the Purple Heart, and numerous commendations for service and bravery under fire. He was a hero not only to his family, but a humble and self-effacing hero to his country as well.

Everyone who knew him, knew him as a kind-hearted man, as a man unhesitatingly ready to serve his neighbors and his nation. He was always happy to lend a hand - and more than one family member came to Bob Paquette in their final days, when they could no longer care for themselves.

His life, his impact on the City of Norris, is indelible. Those who knew him will always remember him with a smile.

Bob Paquette was preceded in death by: Loving and devoted wife, Ella Ruth Paquette; parents, Lawrence and Helen Walker; siblings, Dorothy “Dot” Paquette, Walter Paquette, Emil Paquette, Patricia Stoll, and John “Jack” Paquette.

He is survived by: Daughter, Jackie Patton and her husband Jason; son, Robert Eric Paquette and wife Huyen; three wonderful and adoring grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremiah, and Joseph Patton; very special friend, Carolyn Cornett; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins scattered across numerous States and at least three countries.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at Clinton Church of Christ in Clinton. His funeral service will follow with Mike Smith officiating.

His graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Norris Memorial Garden with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Bob Paquette’s favorite charity, the Jones Mission Fund c/o Clinton Church of Christ, P.O. Box 298, Clinton, TN 37717. The Jones Mission fund builds homes and schools for orphans and underprivileged children in under-served and rural areas of India, as well as providing healthy and nourishing meals.

LAWRENCE ELBERT McINTOSH

Lawrence Elbert McIntosh, 94, Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019.

Lawrence was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. For many years Lawrence was a car salesman in Anderson County and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan.

He was preceded in death by: First wife, Clara McIntosh; siblings, James H. McIntosh, Raymond McIntosh, Lois Kilburn, Bertha Lewis, Candus Spencer, and Mary McIntosh.

He was survived by: Wife, Joyce McIntosh; daughter, Karen McIntosh; son, Michael McIntosh and wife Felicia; grandchildren, Brandon McIntosh and wife Shayle, Adam McIntosh, Kristin McIntosh; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ena Faye McIntosh; special friend, Kathleen Marable; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2019.

His funeral service will follow in the chapel with the Rev. Kent Williams officiating. Lawrence’s graveside will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Garden.

WALTER ANTHONY FERGUSON

Walter Anthony Ferguson, 46, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019.

He was born in Knoxville to James E. and Toni Ferguson on Oct. 25, 1972. He grew up in Clinton and was raised in the Catholic faith at St. Therese Catholic Church. He graduated from Clinton High School, attended Pellissippi State where he received an associates degree in environmental engineering and continued on to receive a bachelor of science degree in environmental science from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

He is survived by: Parents, Toni and Jim Ferguson of Andersonville, loving and caring sisters, Laura Gentry and husband Mike of Gladwin, Mich., Melanie Toler and husband Roger of Powell, as well as their children, twins Eva and Nelson and Anna Rose.

He was the proud father of Nicholas, Caleb and Roman Ferguson; and granddaughter, Alyssa Ferguson.

Prior to his terminal illness, he gave loving care to the patients at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center as a certified nurse’s assistant and continued his education in other areas of health care and was working on his certification in wound care when he became seriously ill. He loved to cook, write poetry and worked as a “cut man” at mixed martial arts events, both amateur and professional.

The funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2019, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Armstrong celebrating along with concelebrants Monsignor Bill Gahagan and Deacons Dan Hosford and Patrick Murphy-Racey, followed by visitation with the family and a Celebration of Life reception in the parish hall. (Day light savings time starts that day) The inurnment will be following the reception at St. Joseph’s Columbarium. Deacon Dan Hosford will accompany the family for the blessing and Rite of Commital.

A special thank you to his work family of PNRC, who were very dear to him; the caring staff of Cumberland Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lafollette; and Amedisys Hospice Care, especially his special nurse, Justin.

LOIS ‘FAYE’ McGHEE

Lois “Faye” McGhee, 72, Clinton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

She was born in Campbell County to the late Coy and Ruth Burress Wright on April 28, 1946. Faye retired from Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after 25-plus years and was a patient advocate and was known by many as, “Momma Faye.” She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed.

Survived by: Husband of 54 years, Dennis McGhee; children, David McGhee and wife Kym, Angelia Martin; siblings, Harlan Wright, Betty Ann Jeffers, Christine Wright Simmons; grandchildren, Randi McGhee Hope and husband Kris, Annatasha Cooper and husband Cody; great-grandchildren, Jackson McGhee, Gabriella Cooper, Scarlett Cooper and Emmaline Hope

The family received friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral service following with the Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating.

Faye’s interment was held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at Grandview Memorial Garden.

DELORES GOLDEN

Delores Golden, 99, Clinton, passed away at her residence Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019.

Delores was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church since 1937. Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crafts.

She was preceded in death by: Husband, Leon Golden; daughter, Judy Hylton; grandson, Gary Hylton; sisters, Betty and Margaret; brother, Edgar.

She is survived by: Son-in-law, James Hylton; grandsons, Mike and Jeff Hylton; granddaughters-in-law, Amy Hylton and Christa Hylton; great-grandchildren, Noah Hylton, Patty Hylton, and George Hylton

The family will have a private graveside service at Woodhaven Memorial Garden.

Her memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Clinton First Baptist Church.

BETTY LOIS MOODY

Betty Lois Moody, 79, went home to her Heavenly Father Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019.

She was born to the late Lawrence and Beulah Coward on July 19, 1939.

Betty was preceded in death by: Husband of 63 years, Ralph L. Moody; son, Tony R. Moody; and sister, Brenda Coward.

She is survived by: Sons, Michael Moody and wife Cindy of Karen’s, Daryl Moody of Pearl, Miss., and Gary Moody and wife Marsha of Rocky Top; grandchildren, Jonathan Moody and wife Melinda, Summer Moody, Samantha Stone, Josh Wikle and wife Lindsy, Brittney O’Neil and husband Justin, Shelby Moody, and Benjamin Moody; as well as a host of great-grandchildren.

Betty was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid animal lover and loved her pets.

Visitation is from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

Funeral service is at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shannon Stone officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Lynch Bethel Cemetery in Knoxville for graveside service.

MISSY ALICE HENDERLIGHT

Missy Alice Henderlight, 50, Clinton passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was a member of Grace Point Baptist Church. Throughout her life she loved being around animals, singing, going to the ocean, and spending time with children. Missy will be remembered for her contagious smile and being a loving mother to her children, Erica and Evan.

She was preceded in death by: Father, Paul Coapman; brother, Ricky Coapman; nephews, Eric and Johnathan Coapman; grandparents, the Rev. Vern E. and Alice Coapman, Earnest Boruff, and France Lane; aunts, Faye Boruff, Jewell Hill, and Jean Barker.

She is survived by: Children, Erica Green and husband James, Evan Henderlight; mother, Willie Coapman; siblings, Gail Shepard and husband Dean, Teresa Patterson, Elizabeth Bostedor and husband Barry, Mickey Coapman and wife Shirrell, David Coapman and wife Sharon, Scotty Coapman and wife Sonya, Amber Coapman; several nieces, nephews and host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

KERNALEE SLOVER KESTERSON

Kernalee Slover Kesterson, 90, Kingston, formerly of Lake City, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at her residence.

Kernalee was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Anderson County to the late Leonard and Siller Hatmaker Slover. She was a member of the Clinch River Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Kernalee was preceded in death by: Husband, Clarence G. Kesterson; sister, Aline Slover Kesterson; and brothers, Sam, Bart, Eugene, Dotson, John and Jim Slover.

Survivors: Daughters, Betty Joe Kesterson Watson (Larry) of Kingston, Linda Kesterson Mayes of Clinton; grandchildren, Tempe Kesterson Ragsdale and Sabian of Briceville, Jason Watson and Julie of Oak Ridge, Kassie Mayes of Jacksboro; great-grandchildren, Ryan Lamons, Emilee Hooks, Myra Kesterson and Tyler Watson; great-great-grandchild, Brinlee Hooks; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kesterson Hembree (Carl); brother-in-law, Arnold Kesterson (Polly); and special friend, Inez Landrum Clinton.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Amedysis Hospice of Sweetwater, Dr. Thakur and staff.

Visitation will be from 1 – 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

Funeral service is at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Phillips and the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral service Friday, March 1, 2019, at Clinch River Cemetery in Lake City.
