LEON FOUST

Leon Foust, 72, Clinton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at his residence.

Leon was born on Sept. 25, 1945, in Anderson County to the late Claude Foust and Annie Phillips Foust. Leon was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by: Brother, Woodrow Foust; and sister, Cleta Seiber.

Survivors: Wife, Sandra Jones Foust of Clinton; son, Ricky Foust of Clinton; nephew, Zachary Seiber; good friend, Brenda Braden of Oliver Springs; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel, Gerald Hatmaker officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Hatmaker Funeral Home to go in procession to the Foust Cemetery in Lake City for an 11 a.m. interment.

CLYDE EUGENE WHARTON

Clyde Eugene Wharton, 94, Clinton, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at his home in Clinton.

Clyde enjoyed making people laugh with his good clean jokes. He had the gift of laughter. Clyde was an elder of his church, Clinton Church of God. He was very active in church ministries and activities such as Children’s Church and Boys’ Club. He worked as a custodian for the church and was an artist.

Clyde was preceded in death by: Son, Clyde “Billie” Wharton Jr.; and daughter, Ruthann Wharton.

Clyde is survived by: Wife, Fay Wharton of Clinton; daughter, Linda Dawson of Vermont; grandchildren, Kevin Wharton and wife Cindy of Knoxville, and Carolyn Wharton of Washington; numerous great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.

Clyde’s family will have a Celebration of Life service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Clinton Church of God with the Rev. Curtis Akers officiating.

Clyde’s interment will be private.

STANLEY MITCHELL WADE

Stanley Mitchell Wade, 70, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018.

He was a member of Sinking Springs, United Methodist Church. His greatest love was being a dad, grandfather and great-grandfather.


Preceded in death by: Parents, Charles and Blondell Wade; sisters, Janice Foster and Charlene Willamson.

He is survived by: Wife, Diane Wade; son, Bruce Wade and wife Tiffany; daughters, Angela Purkey, Dawn Brummett and husband Marty, Denise Wade and fiancé Sean Healey; sister, Sue Alley and husband Bill; grandchildren, Bryce, Alexis, Gracie, Delaney and Miley Wade, Wayne Rosenbaum, Blake and Paige Purkey, Katelyn and Ella Brummett, and Ashlin Healey; great-grandchildren, Bellamy Purkey and Aria Currie; and a host of extended family and friends.


The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, in the Chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m.

PAUL RHEA JR.

Paul Rhea Jr., 46, Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at his home in Oak Ridge.

He loved his wife, Jacqueline, and daughter, Kila, very much. Paul loved to draw. He was kind hearted, soft spoken and was a friend to everyone.

Paul was preceded in death by: Father, Paul Lynn Rhea Sr.; and mother, Theressia Hammers.

Paul is survived by: Wife, Jacqueline Rhea of Oak Ridge; daughter, Kila Rhea of Clinton; brothers, William Rhea and wife Brandy of Claxton, Rodney Hammers and wife Wendy of Kentucky, Johnny Hammers and wife Kris of Kentucky, and Matthew Hammers of Kentucky; sisters, Christina Myers and husband Steve of Bulls Gap, Laura Bales of Texas, Maryann Russell of Michigan, and Donna Rhea of Lake City.

Paul also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Paul’s family will receive his friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, with his funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton.

Paul’s interment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at New Petros cemetery in Wartburg.

MARSHA DIANE ‘CRICKET’ CAIN

Marsha Diane “Cricket” Cain went home to be with Jesus Aug. 11, 2018, at her home in Palm Harbor, Fla.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1946, in Dallas, Ga., and is survived by two daughters: Michelle Newport and husband Jeff, and Mimi Morris; six grandchildren, Brandon Newport, Wesley Newport, Trevor Newport, Corey Coffey, Tabitha Coffey, and Jessica Jones; six great-grandchildren, Courtney Ellison, Rodney Ellison, Xander Blankenship, Bennett Coffey, Clayton Coffey, and J.T. Jones; along with a host of special cousins and friends.

Cricket was a hairdresser most of her life and she loved to travel and experience new places. She loved painting, crafting, festivals, and spending time with her family and friends.

Receiving of friends will be from 6 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Rocky Top Worship Center in Rocky Top.

Come and join the Grand Celebration of her life to begin at 7p.m. The family requests the presence of all friends and family from the body of Christ and previous clients from the salon to come celebrate her life with them.

THOMAS (TOMMY) EDWARD LAWLESS

Thomas (Tommy) Edward Lawless, Maynardville, passed away peacefully, Saturday afternoon, Aug. 11, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Tommy was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 1958. He continued his education at East Tennessee State College and then served in the United States Navy (Vietnam) on a mine sweeper as Second Lieutenant for four years. He taught high school math and retired from Frontier High school in West Virginia. In retirement, Tommy returned to East Tennessee where he enjoyed playing golf with his brothers.

Tommy was preceded in death by: Father, Edward Lawless; mother, Elvira Lawless Webb; stepfather, Samuel Jacob Webb Sr.; sister, Norma Lawless Yost; and nephew, Ronald Maurice Yost Jr.

He Is survived by: Loving siblings, James Lawless (Viola) Knoxville, Samuel Webb (Joni) Powell, Marilyn Sanders (Gary) Dadeville, Ala., Judy Webb Maynardville, and Gladys Stooksbury (Norman Hughes) Heiskell; nieces and nephews, Kathy Groth (John Hancock), Terese Dillard (Ed), Rhonda Pittman (David), Tonya Johnston, Sonya Curtis (Eddie), Angela Sanders (Laura), Kristina Jones, Eric Webb (Traci), Eliot Webb (Kimberly), Dyana Moore, Noel Garcia (Joey), Mitchell Stooksbury; and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.

Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to Norris Memorial Gardens for a graveside service.

GARRY LEE PHILLIPS

Garry Lee Phillips, 57, Clinton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at his residence.

Garry was born in Clinton on March 22, 1961, to the late James R. Phillips and Betty Mounce Phillips. Garry was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed fishing, making fishing lures, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Jeffers.

Survivors: Wife, Jenny Arthur Phillips of Clinton; son, Joshua Phillips and Katie of Clinton; daughter, Christina Lowe and David of Clinton; brothers, Wayde Phillips and Carolyn of Knoxville, Joe Phillips of Clinton, Darrell Phillips of Clinton, David Phillips and Regina of Lake City; grandchildren, Sarah Lowe, Garren and Abigail Phillips; and many other special cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from noon – 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Lindsay officiating.

CORRINE ROBINSON

Corrine Robinson, 75, Knoxville, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Knoxville.

She was born July 20, 1943, in Pioneer to the late Melvin and Josephine Alred Byrd. Corrine was a member of Old Time Gospel in Seymour. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Corrine was preceded in death by: Daughters, Terri Renee Rickett and Connie Jane; son, Jimmy Ray Standridge; brothers, Cleopus “Buck” Byrd and Leroy Byrd; and sister, Opal Mae Byrd Crowley.

Survivors: Husband, James Robinson of Knoxville; sons, James Willard Robinson of Knoxville, Melvin Dewayne Robinson and wife Jenny of Knoxville; daughter, Connie Jane Standridge Jenkins of Knoxville; brother, Lonas “Tony” Byrd and wife Sue of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Pearl Byrd Ault and husband J.C. of Knoxville; three grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
