Reba Aileene Cook, 86, Clinton, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 29, 2018, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge surrounded by family and friends.
She was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church where she maintained her Sunday school’s ministry of sending cards to the sick and elderly. Her cards were a bright spot in numerous people’s lives.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Danty Thurmon (D.T.) Cook; daughter, Linda Stooksbury and husband Wayne; mother, Esta Bernice Daniels; parents, Roy and Aline Disney; brothers, Chandler Disney, and Ernest Disney; and in-laws, Ezra and Minnie Cook.
She is survived by: Sons, Larry E. Cook (Katie), David C. Cook (Susie), Dana L. Cook (Carol), Kenneth W. Cook (Gail), and T. Dwayne Cook; sister, Lorene Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
She was Mamaw Cook to grandchildren: Tammy Belcher (Jimmy), Deanna Cook, Jeffery Batson (Heather), Chrystall Wade (Nick), Adam Cook, Adrienne Burleson (Greg), Lindy Reeverts, Lexie Scott (Chris), Vonda Holder (Steve), Brian Stooksbury (Mary), Jennifer Gardner (Kyle), Johnathan Cook (Kim), Daniel Cook, Alicia Shelton (Joe), Kevin Cook (Shannon), Danny Cook, Lauren Lowe (Sam); and 30 great-grandchildren.
She loved to quilt and her quilts were a treasure to anyone who received them. She was an angel on earth and an inspiration to everyone that knew her.
The family received friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home on Monday, July 2, 2018, followed by the service officiated by the Rev. Mack Smith.
Her burial was Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
HELEN MAXINE JAMES

Helen Maxine James, better known as Maxine, 85, Powell, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Maxine enjoyed drawing and going to Dollywood. She loved her church at Edgemoor Baptist in Claxton, where she was a member, and singing in the choir until she wasn’t able to. She loved studying the Bible and said that God was her strength every day and in all her struggles.
Maxine was preceded in death by: Parents, Walter and Iva Anderson; husbands, Dewey James Yarber and George James; brothers, Aubrey Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Garnett Johnson, Vernon Larue Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Harlan Johnson; and sister, Mary Alice Robbins.
Maxine is survived by: Children, Ginger Dalton and husband Samuel of Johnson City, Dewey S. Yarber and wife Elizabeth of Clinton, and Audrey Bryan and husband, Bill of Karns; brothers, Edward Johnson of Kingston, and Oscar Norris Johnson and wife Lucy of Arizona; sisters, Marie Guy of Clinton, and Liz Huebner and husband Bob of Clinton; grandchildren, Joshua N. Dalton (Cortnie) of Johnson City, Matthew L. Dalton (Maggie) of Johnson City, Erin L. Dalton of Johnson City, T. Cody Yarber of Clinton, and Jonathan Bryan of Karns; great-grandchildren, Anslie F. Pinkston and Arlo N. Dalton.
Maxine also leaves behind, whom she was a Godparent to, Wayne and Carolyn Huckaby’s sons; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Maxine’s family will receive her friends from 1 – 3 p.m. pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018, with her funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor David Crutchfield officiating in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton. Maxine’s interment will follow her funeral service at Black Oak Baptist Church cemetery in Clinton.

MARGARET TAYLOR ‘SISSY’ HOLT

Margaret Taylor “Sissy” Holt, 80, Clinton, passed away peacefully with all of her family at her side June 28, 2018.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and is now singing in the Heavenly Choir.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, George and Carrie Taylor; sisters, Jean Taylor Perryman, Mary Elizabeth Taylor Hill; and brother, William Lawrence “Bill” Taylor.
She is survived by: Husband of 55 years, Robert L. “Bob” Holt; daughter, Donna and husband Brian Ault; son, Doug Holt and wife Shannon; brother-in-law, Jack Holt and wife Brenda; and life-long friend Col. William L. Cooper Jr.
She loved being “Mamaw Sissy” to grandchildren: Taylor, Jordan, Olivia, John and Samantha and dearly loved her many nieces and nephews who have lovingly supported her.
She was a 1955 Graduate of Clinton High School and employed at Y-12, Hammer’s, and retired as office manager for local Ford dealerships.
She loved to read and used her sewing talents to add a special touch to many. She loved being a “helper” to her beloved husband “Bob” to complete many special woodworking projects. She added a beautiful voice to her church choir and the XYZ singers.
We would like to thank her family and many friends for their overwhelming love and support. We are also thankful for Dr. Hannah, Macy, Carrie and the staff at Hannah Cancer Associates; Dr. Scott and Dr. Wilson for their excellent care. In addition, we are very appreciative of the care provided by the staff at Shannondale Heath Care Center.
The funeral service was held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, at First Baptist Church of Clinton with the visitation following.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Ruby June Patterson Seiber, 86, Oliver Springs — Our mother left this earth to be with Jesus in accordance with her Christian faith Sunday, June 24, 2018.
She was a long-time resident of Oliver Springs, with roots to the New River Mountains of Anderson County. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, being with her family, and friends.
She was married to Hobart Seiber, former Oliver Springs police chief in 1960s.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Arvil Patterson and Hurhtle Patterson.
She is survived by: Two children, Jean and John, and two preceded children, Charlene and Marie; grandchildren, Theresa, Terry, Rebecca, Jason, Donna, Jessica; and several great-grandchildren; brother, Oscar Patterson; and sister, Sue Bunch.
We will miss her love, gravy biscuits, and her mountain cooked foods.
The family will have a Graveside ceremony at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Frost Bottom Cemetery in Frost Bottom.

On Saturday, June 23, 2018, Raymond “Ray” John Monk Sr., avid fisherman, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 75 years.
He was preceded in death by: Father Joenathan; mother, Ruth Carol (Phelmetta); and brother, Allen.
Serving 25 years in the United States Air Force, Master Sargent Monk proudly served two tours in the Vietnam war. After travelling the world and earning many decorations throughout his military career, Ray retired and made a home with his family in the Powell community in 1987. He worked for Martin Marietta as an Industrial Hygienist until he decided to fully retire in the year 2000.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by: Wife and best friend of 50 years, Peggy “Marge” (Fields), and their sons Raymond “John” Jr. (Tara) and Parrish “PG” (Sharahn). He will also be fondly remembered by: Grandsons, Adam, Adrian and Kadin, his brother Jonathan “Butch;” sister, Shelly Guess; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ray’s family will receive his friends from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2018, with his celebration of life to follow at 12:30 p.m .at his home church, Claxton Church of Christ in Claxton, with Pastor Tim Forlines officiating. He will be interred at 2 p.m. with full military honors at East Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery.

Timothy Michael Hutcheson, 41, Powell, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 22, 2018.
He was born Oct. 30, 1976. Timothy loved his family. He was a member of Island Home Baptist Church.
Timothy was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rena F. Hill, who was originally from Andersonville.
He is survived by: Parents, Mike and Pat Hutcheson of Andersonville; daughter, Melina; sister, Amanda Irwin of Andersonville; niece and nephew, Riley and Wyatt Irwin of Andersonville; grandparents, Jack and Joyce Hutcheson of Powell; many aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Timothy’s family received his friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, with his funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones with the Rev. Ronnie Horner and Jerry Hurst officiating.
Timothy’s interment was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Andersonville.

Rita Smith Bowers, 87, Claxton, passed away from this life after a short illness June 20, 2018.
Rita was a dedicated homemaker, a talented seamstress, and an excellent and widely appreciated cook. Over the years, she was also known as a creative decorator and hostess for elaborate affairs. Rita was a friend to many who dearly loved her. She was deeply devoted to her family who benefited from her talents and dedication to them. Her life was given in service to her family and she labored long and hard to make life better for each and every one of her family.
Rita was a lifelong member of the Christian Church but in later years was affiliated and attended Edgemoor Baptist Church of Claxton. She was a longtime member of the Claxton Optimist Club, volunteering to serve the education community and community food baskets for many years. In addition, she was involved in numerous community and school support projects.
Rita was preceded in death by: Parents, Elijah Lorenza Smith and Mamie Richardson Smith; sisters, Marilyn Smith McKinney, Geraldine Smith McGee; and loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Bill Cleveland Bowers.
She is survived by: Daughter, Caroline Bowers (Steve) Brown of Lebanon; granddaughter, Erin Turner Brown of Nashville; sister, Barbara (Bruce) Buchanan of Burlington, N.C.; sister, Betty (Perry) Lawing of Marion, N.C.; brother, James (Betty) Smith, of Salisbury, N.C.; sister-in-law, Ida Bowers of Johnson City; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Edgemoor Baptist Church, Claxton, from 4 – 6 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018. Funeral services will be held at her childhood home church, Minneapolis Christian Church, Minneapolis, N.C., at 11 a.m. Tuesday June 27, 2018. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City.
Honorary Pallbearers are Perry Lawing, Bruce Buchanan, Mike Lawing, Steve Brown, Jim Smith, Steve Burnette, and Charles Chandler.

EVERT DeVENTE
June 20, 2018
Evert DeVente went home to his Lord surrounded by his family June 20, 2018.
He was born in Oegstgeest, Holland, in 1944 and was raised in Ede, Holland. He was the third of eight children born to Gerrit and Janna DeVente. In 1957, the DeVente family immigrated to the United States, sponsored by the Fourth Presbyterian Church and settled in Knoxville. After graduating from Fulton High School, Evert served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Evert raised his seven children in the Fairview community of Anderson County. He was a very active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist in Heiskell, where he served as a deacon and a volunteer missionary. Evert was proud to serve the Lord four times in Brazil and two times in Mexico, as well as in Arizona and Ohio.
Evert was preceded in death by: Parents, Gerrit and Janna DeVente; brothers, Gerrit DeVente and Jacob DeVente; sister, Elisabeth McDermott.
Evert is survived by: Wife, Karen DeVente of Heiskell; children, Shelly (Keith) Vandagriff of Clinton, Kristi Daniels of Knoxville, Lindsey (Brian) Stanley of Andersonville, Jason (Kylea) DeVente of Clinton, Emily DeVente of Heiskell, Kylie (Nick) Corrigan of Clinton, Valerie DeVente of Heiskell; sisters, Janna DeVente and Corrie Loveday of Knoxville; brothers, Jan DeVente of Johnson City, Simon Devente of Alcoa.
Evert also leaves to celebrate his life 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday June 24, 2018, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and the funeral service followed at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Aiken officiating.
Following the service family and friends proceeded to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery for interment.
