Russell Terry Stansberry Jr., 40, Clinton, went home to be with our Lord and Saviour Sunday, July 2, 2017.
He was born March 8, 1977, to Russell Terry Stansberry Sr. and Sonja Nelson Stansberry, both of Heiskell.
He is preceeded in death by his mother, Sonja Stansberry, just one short year ago.
He is survived by: Wife of 20 years, Shawnte Miller Stansberry; their two young sons, Russell Terry (R.T.) Stansberry III, and Rylan Al Stansberry; father, Russell Terry Stansberry Sr.; sister, Felisha Rhodes and husband Roger; nephews, Garrett Rhodes, Zack Rhodes, Jesse Rhodes, and Jake Miller; niece, Shana Miller; goddaughters, Hannah Freeman, Leah Freeman, Chloe Freeman, Bailey Wilder, and Amelia Wilder; a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
Russell was saved and loved our Lord. He not only professed his salvation but he lived it openly to the world, as well as behind closed doors. He loved his family and friends with everything in him. Everyone knew that Russell was a “go big or go home” type of personality and that’s exactly the kind of husband, father, brother, son, and friend he was. God thought he was so wonderful that HE gave the world two more of him when his sons were born. He was an extremely talented mechanic and everyone knew, “Russ could fix anything.” Positivity radiated from him and he never once complained nor asked “why me” after being diagnosed with brain cancer. After eight-years, three-months of fighting his body gave up but his unwavering faith and spirit never did. One could not help but to notice his BIG hands and BIG heart in which both had the desire to help anyone he met. He was loved by so many and especially by children. If you knew him, then I’m sure you have “a Russell story.”
He will be deeply missed by a multitude of people.

Receiving friends was at Holley Gamble in Clinton from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017. The funeral will be held at Carroll Hollow Baptist Church in Clinton at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017; the Rev. David Crowe, the Rev. Travis Freeman, Bro. Daniel Metcalf will all assist with the service.
A procession to Anderson Memorial Gardens will immediately follow with Pastor Cody Haynes to close his memorial service.

Jeanette Prater York passed June 28, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Mossy Springs of Union County to Troy Sweat and Edith Prater, Sept. 18, 1923. She was the first born and last surviving of nine siblings.
Preceding her in death were: Parents; husband, the Rev. Walter York; sisters, Cecil Woodson, Geneva Bostic, Fontella Hatmaker, Jessie Shepherd; and brothers, Winford, Jack, Walter, and Paul Shepherd.
She lived in Mossy Springs attending Privitte Flats School and Mossy Springs Baptist Church until the age of 12, when her entire world was upturned by the construction of TVA’s Norris Dam project. Reared by her grandparents, Helen Craig and William H. Turner, from birth she moved from that humble log home to Henderson Road in Anderson County. Here she enrolled in Claxton School in 1935 and Spring Hill Baptist Church. Ending her formal education at age 16 for “lack of funds” she enrolled in a vocational school earning her electricians certification. From there she set out to work as an apprentice in Mobile, Ala., boarding damaged battleships in the Gulf Coast just prior to and during World War II. On her return home she was employed by the Clinton Engineering Works where she soon met her husband, Walter York, for the second time, the first was on the playground at Claxton School where she kicked his playing marbles out of the ring and into the dust. Married July 17, 1944, in Cocke County, they purchased 12-plus acres of the John and Sarah Cox Farm on Bull Run Creek and within hollering distance from her grandparents. There were seven children; William Walter, James Edward, Barbara Jean, Ida LaVerne, Leo, Jerry Lee and Larry Allen. “Five boys and two girls,” as they would so proudly announce when asked. Her children survive her with daughter-in-law, Daisy, and sons-in-law, Tony Ball and James White. Grandchildren were her loving pride, four of which she had a hand in rearing. While Walter never had the opportunity to meet his grandchildren, having passed in 1966, they were Tony Ball, Stacy Ball Burris (Eddie), J. J. White (Sherri), David White, Billy York, Johnny York, Walter York (Jenifer), Cody York Chambers (Ronnie), J. R. York, and David York. Great-grandchildren are Lindsey White, Jared White, Kalab White, Justin Burris, Kevin Burris, Casey Ball Law, Karleigh York, Lexie York, Jaylynn York, Kinley Jeanette York, Madylin Law, Mollie Chambers, and Grayson Law.
This family matriarch, willful, strong, and independent will be sorely missed by these grieving descendants and a chorus of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She kept us united. Keeping retirement at bay until age 72 she worked tirelessly in her flowers and on her lawn. She was always the eager babysitter for her many grandchildren.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Riverview Baptist Church on Old Blacksferry Lane. Her funeral service immediately followed with the Revs. Tim Hooper and David Watson officiating. Music was provided by Jimmy Duncan.
Her interment was at 2 p.m. Sunday Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Farmers Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Blockhouse Valley.

DAVID AUSTIN TOLER SR.

Dave Toler went home to be with the Lord June 23, 2017, after he won his battle with cancer at 75 years of age.
The son of Sidney Martin Toler and Irene Elizabeth Whitten Toler, grandson of Pete and Lydia Toler, and first grandson of Bill and Maude Whitten, he was born in Cyclone, W. Va., Dec. 16, 1941. He was married to his true love, Ruby Jewel Duncan Toler, for 50 years.
Through their beautiful life and marriage, they had a son David Austin Toler Jr. and wife Neca; daughters, Peggy Toler Hooper and husband Aaron, April Wallace and husband Markalle; granddaughters, Sydney and Addisyn Toler, his two redheads.
Dave was a member and inactive deacon of Island Ford Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army. He was an over the road truck driver for Revco and Merita Bread, and a long haul driver for Roadway. Dave was a retired teamster union member of Local # 337, #519, and #100. Easy money was the CB handle he used as he rolled down the road logging close to three-million miles over his career. Dave and Ruby moved to Lake City in 1972 from Cleveland, Ohio, when they bought their 52 acre dream farm. Throughout the years they worked hard to create their own slice of heaven on earth. The Toler home has always been filled with love, joy, and laughter. Dave has logged even more smiles than miles.
Dave is preceded in death by: Parents, Sidney Martin Toler and Irene Elizabeth Toler Marcum; brother, Walter Calvin Toler; his second mother Aunt Louise.
Survived by: Wife, Ruby; children, David, Peggy, and April; grandchildren, Sydney and Addisyn; brother, Bernard Toler (Betty); and sister, Carolyn Lee (Bill); also many special nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.
Visitation was from 3 – 5 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with the Rev. Randy Norton officiating.
Interment followed the funeral service at the Island Ford Cemetery in Lake City.
NANCY ROSE (LONGMIRE) SWORD

Nancy was born Jan. 1, 1924, to Charles and Rose Longmire in Andersonville. She passed away peacefully June 19, 2017, at Meadowview Assisted Living in Norris.
After graduating from Austin Peay University she began her teaching career in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with the Broward County School System. After teaching 40 years, Mrs. Sword retired to her favorite place, East Tennessee. She was a member of Andersonville United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by: Husband, Kenneth Sword of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers, Mayo Longmire and David Longmire; sisters, Elizabeth Lambdin, Ruth Longmire, Mary Osier and Bobbie Collier; and nieces, Sara Longmire and Nancy Lynn Longmire.
She is survived by: Sister, Rebecca Williams of Clinton; and brothers, Hubert Longmire and wife Mary Helen, and Hobert Longmire and wife Mary Ann, all of Andersonville; nieces, Melissa Snead, Rosemary Archer and Catherine Longmire; nephews, Charles Williams, Robert Longmire, Charles Longmire, Mark Longmire and David Longmire; great-nieces, Laura Snead, Jodi McCoy, Mary Kate Longmire, Molly Longmire and Abbey Williams; great-nephews, Richard Snead, Paul Longmire and Matthew Longmire.
The family received friends from noon – 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at Andersonville United Methodist Church in Andersonville, with a funeral service and burial following with the Rev. Ralph Horack officiating.
Robert Longmire, Richard L. Snead, Richard S. Snead, Charles Williams, Charles Longmire and Mark Longmire served as pallbearers.

Oral Potter, 81, Rocky Top, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was born Jan. 18, 1936, to the late Henry and Martha Howard Potter in Jackson, Ky. He was a successful businessman who owned several service stations during his lifetime. He enjoyed farming and tending his cattle. He loved his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a giving man who loved life and loved people. He was of the Baptist faith and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: Brothers, Granville Potter, Cecil Potter, Patrick Potter, J.B. Potter, and Freeman Potter.
He is survived by: Son, Larry Potter and wife Jeane; daughter, Sid Brewer and husband Duan; brothers, Lou Potter, Dexter Potter and wife Irene; sister, Alice Mooney and husband Tom; grandchildren, Jessica Bealer and husband Frank, Jason Braden and wife Maria; great-grandchildren, Micah, Isaac, Layla, James, Megan, Bryce, Cailey, and Maddie; loving step-daughter, Kim Glandon and children Dillon Glandon and Haley Glandon; and a host of other family and friends.

Keith Edward McMillan, 55, formerly of Ten Mile, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017, in California, where he was working as a Journeyman Electrician.
He was born July 20, 1961, in Noblesville, Ind., and moved to Roane County during his younger days. He attended Roane County schools and graduated from Lenoir City High School. Keith was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Chattanooga Local Union No. 175, and has worked as a Journeyman Electrician for more than 20 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him but a blessing to know he is not in any pain.
Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.
Survivors: Wife, Patricia (Trish) Jones McMillan of Decatur; daughter, Anna McMillan; three grandchildren; mother, Billie Jean Helton of Lenoir City; father, Ronnie McMillan of Loudon; brother, Jess McMillan of Lenoir City; sister, Pamela Gangwer and husband Jim of Stow, Ohio; parents-in-law, Ray and Joan Jones of Oliver Springs; brother-in-law, Bobby Jones and wife Sharon of Oak Ridge; sisters-in-law, Cora Webb and husband Jimmy of Clinton, Pam Harber and husband Gary of Oliver Springs, Sandy Ellis and husband Phil of Clinton; special friend, Daniel (Biscuit) Bordan of Etowah; a host of extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Robert Francis McIntyre, 80, Clinton, better known as “Bob,” passed away surrounded by his family June 22, 2017.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Care Catholic Church in LaFollette. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he reached the rank of Master Sergeant and also served in Vietnam. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of several groups including the Patriot Heart Riders and S.O.A.R. Sportsman Gun Club.
He was preceded in death by: Mother and father, Mr. Glenn Thomas McIntyre Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy Agnes Clark McIntyre; sister, Judith Ann Jenkins; and her husband, Buddy.
Bob is survived by: Loving wife, Ruth Anne McIntyre of Clinton; daughter, Tina Peterson and her husband Randy of Clinton; brothers, Glen Thomas McIntyre Jr. and his wife Jean of Heiskell; sister, Jackie Sue Flippen and her husband Pete of Kingston; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.
He will be greatly missed by “his special girl” Moxie.
Bob’s services will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017, with a receiving of friends from 6 – 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with a celebration of life immediately following at 8 p.m. with Father Julius Abuh officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, in East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation in Bob’s honor.

James Edward Jeffers, 53, Clinton, passed away June 22, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, with family and friends by his side.
James was born Dec. 1, 1963, in Lake City. He was of the Baptist faith.
Preceeded in death by: Parents, James Claude and Ellen Phillips Jeffers; and sister, Joann Clark, all of Clinton.
He is survived by: Loving fiancé’, Freda Lowe Damewood of Clinton; brothers, Danny Jeffers of Russellville, Jimmy and Jackie Jeffers of Blaine; sisters, Pat Pryse of Clinton, Mary and Roger Reynolds of Clinton, and baby sister, Linda Jeffers of Clinton; also, special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with a host of special friends and special cousins in Scott County.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Clinton. A celebration of life will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Donnie Disney officiating.
James was loved by many, especially by his nieces and nephews in reflection of his love for his family and friends that he loved best.
