Samuel Leslie “Les” Foster, 47, Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Clinton, passed away Aug. 23, 2022, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
He was a graduate of Clinton High School and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He had a successful career in logistics and supply chain management. In his free time he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his partner, friends and pets. He was a hardworking, generous and thoughtful person. His charismatic, playful, and friendly demeanor could light up a room. He was loved by so many and he will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by: Mother, Diana Foster; and sister, April Foster.
He is survived by: Partner, Sam Stavros; father, Don Foster; sister, Leann Bunch; brother-in-law, Toby Bunch; niece and nephew, Ashley and Matt Bunch; along with many other relatives and friends.
The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with a celebration of life service following in the chapel.
The family held a private graveside at Woodhaven Memorial Garden.

Gail Powell, 65, Clinton, passed away at her residence Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022.
She was born June 10, 1957, in Burtonwood, England, on the Air Force base to Vryon and Sophie Christner. Gail’s father, Vyron, was a veteran of the United States Air Force and she spent most of her childhood life at various Air Force bases around the world. In her later years she moved to Pennsylvania where she married and had two children.
Gail was an LPN in Knoxville at various nursing homes and loved helping take care of the elderly. Throughout her life she was an avid reader, loved cooking for her family, and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: Son, Robert Shute; brothers, Charles and Brian Christener; sister, Sophie Kay; brother-in-law, David Kay; sister-in-law, Vicki Christener.
She is survived by: Loving daughter, Natasha Core and husband Eric of Andersonville; grandchildren, Kristina Blair and husband Adam, Robert Shafer, and Emily Shafer; great-granddaughter, Lilly Ann Daniel and Alaina Daniel; brother, Andrew Christener; niece, Tracy Ray and husband Scott; nephew, Lil Dave Kay.
The family will have a private celebration of life service.

MARGARET ELIZABETH FOSTER STALLARD

Margaret Elizabeth Foster Stallard, 87, Clinton, passed away Aug. 21, 2022, at The Lantern Memory Care Facility at Morning Point in Clinton.
She was born in Norris April 12, 1935. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
Margaret was preceded in death by: Husband, Robert D. Stallard; parents, Ruby and Hugh Foster; brother, Hugh D. Foster Jr.; and grandson, Christopher D. Stallard.
She is survived by: Son, Mark D. Stallard and wife Lisa; granddaughter, Emily Wallace and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Maebree Davis and Maddox Wallace; and sister-in-law, Jane Foster; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Margaret's son, Mark, would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at The Lantern Memory Care Facility in Clinton and Avalon Hospice for their loving care and kindness to his mother during this time.

Jason L. Hobbs (1983-2022), died at the age of 39 doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle.
He leaves a devastated family and many devastated friends. We are all very, very sadden by his death. Many broken hearts will miss his kindness, wit, intellect, curiosity, sweetness, thoughtfulness to others, and most of all his laughter and great smile. His large family thanks all of his friends for the love shown toward Jason during his 39 years.
Yellow was Jason's favorite color since he was two-years old. He loved anything yellow, from a tee shirt to a soccer ball. So, when you see yellow, please remember Jason.

Ruth Geraldine Elliott, 91, born Feb. 11, 1931, to Clinton and Elizabeth Smith in Knoxville.
She was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church of Heiskell.
She loved Jesus, her church and her family.
She was preceded in death by: Parents Clinton and Elizabeth Smith; brother, Bill Smith; sisters Gertie King, Margaret Kerr, and Catherine Childress.
Ruth is survived by: Son, Greg Elliott (Wanda); grandson, Kevin Elliott (Deanna); granddaughter, Shauna Bowling (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Isaac, Kara and Austin Bowling, Karter and Jack Elliott; brother, Max Smith (Kathy); sister, Edna Stephens.

Robert Lee Phillips, 61, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, in Rocky Top.
Robert was a member at Norris First Baptist Church and he dedicated most of his time into doing God’s work. He volunteered at a local senior center, and he helped feed the homeless. In his spare time, Robert loved to go four wheeling, fishing, bowling, and watching football. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Buster and Mary Phillips; son, Christopher Lee Phillips; sister, Linda Phillips; brother, Gary Phillips; grandparents, Carlos and Thelma Stittums; nephew, David Jarnigan and David Phillips Jr.; sister-in-law, B.J. Phillips; and best friend, Raymond Long.
Robert is survived by: Sons, Joshua Alan Phillips of Heiskell, and Robert Phillips Jr. of Heiskell; brothers, Buster Phillips and Cherie of Clinton, Charlie Phillips and Pam of Harriman, David Phillips of Georgia; sisters, Mary Ann Goins and Mike of Lake City, Vickie, Karen Isabell and Tom of Caryville, Becky, and Debbie; granddaughter, Annabelle Sophia Phillips; nephews, J.J. Dotson, Thomas Phillips, Tony Lane, Josh Stittums, Preston, and Joey Isabell.

Wanda Jean Kiehl, 74, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2022 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Wanda was a member of Hillvale Baptist Church. She loved her family and grandchildren dearly. Wanda will be remembered as a loving, Christian woman who was always there for her friends and family, and she was very fond of her fur babies.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Frank and Mary Nell Maloy; husband, Thomas Kiehl; brother, Gary Maloy.
Wanda is survived by: Sons, Michael Kiehl (Melissa) of Knoxville, and Frank Kiehl of Andersonville; daughter, Kellie Szczepanski (Thomas) of Riverview, Mich.; sister-in-law, Brenda Maloy; grandchildren, Jacob Szczepanski, Megan Kiehl, Selah Kiehl, Macy Kiehl, and Jonah Kiehl.
Wanda is also survived by her lifelong friend, Bonnie Scott.
A graveside service was held for Wanda at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022 at Hillvale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jennifer J. Cook, 46, Lake City, was peacefully called home after a battle against lung afflictions Aug. 13, 2022.
She was born Dec. 13, 1975, to her late father, Dennis Phillips, and Linda Bolinger Rhea. She at a young age accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Jenny was known for many things including being a champion winning athlete, an amazing mother, daughter, grandmother, friend, and soulmate, as well as having a smile that could light up any room. Everyone who knew her, loved her.
She was preceded in death by: Father, Dennis Phillips; grandmother, Jennifer Louise Rose Phillips; grandfather, William Ralph Bolinger Sr. and Iva Jean Bolinger; and stepfather, John Timothy Rhea, whom with she is surely rejoicing in heaven’s halls.
She is survived by: Mother, Linda Bolinger Rhea of Lake City; brothers, Justin Rhea of Lake City and Tagen Loges Phillips of Knoxville; daughters, Morgan Grady and Val, Taylor Grady, Ashley Cook, and Katherine Cook and Austin Silvey of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Raelyn Grady, Danielle Cook, and Tyler Silvey; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; loving boyfriend, who was by her side until the very end, Shawn Phillips of Lake City.
Jenny was a mother to many, and a friend to all. She loved her children fiercely, and fought hard to stay with them. She was known to be fierce for the ones she loved and a helpful hand for anyone in need. Her loss will be felt by many, and she will never be forgotten.
Visitation was from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Ray Phillips officiating.
Family and friends will met at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City to go in procession to Leach Cemetery for an 11 a.m. interment.
