L.R. "Smitty" Smith, 91 Lake City, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022.
Smitty was born July 23, 1931, in Briceville Fred Smith and Rosie Bond Smith. L.R. attended a branch of the Eagle Apostolic Church at the Clinton Towers with his wife Lucina. He loved to share about his love for Jesus. Smitty was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. Smitty never met a stranger and loved to talk. Smitty loved crosswords and always told others Jesus was in here.
In addition to his parents, Smitty was preceded in death by: Wife of 53 years Lucina Smith; siblings, Thurston Smith, Aileen Smith, Artha Headly, Loretta Twardoski and two infant siblings.
Survivors: Daughter, Nancy Lucina Smith; brother, Floyd Edmonds.
Visitation was from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at Hatmaker Funeral Home.
Funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, in the Hatmaker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Burchfield and the Rev. Derek Sharp officiating.
A private graveside service was held Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022.

LUCINA PEARL SMITH
December 13, 2022
Lucina Pearl Smith, 78, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022, at North Knoxville Medical Center.
Lucina was born March 19, 1944, in Lake City to Condy Gordon Foust and Sarah Elizabeth Bayless Foust. Lucina attended a branch of the Eagle Apostolic Church at the Clinton Towers. Among being a jokester, Lucina was a feisty, strong, courageous, compassionate, loving and crafty woman. She loved to talk, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Lucina was passionate about the blood of Jesus.
In addition to her parents, Lucina is preceded in death by: Son and daughter, Charles and Sara; child lost in the womb; and two infant brothers.
Survivors: Husband of 53 Years, L.R. Smith; daughter, Nancy Lucina Smith; sisters, Margine Stevens, Condine Foust, and Jo Evelyn Brown and husband Jim; special friend, Blanche Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Burchfield and the Rev. Derek Sharp officiating.
A private graveside service was held Sunday.
VALERIE ANN FATELEY
December 11, 2022
Valerie Ann Fateley, Clinton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at the age of 65.
She was born to George (G.B) Comer and Edith Mae Winchester Comer Feb. 14, 1957.
Valerie grew up in LaFollette, then later became a long-time resident of a Clinton. She was a beloved and valued employee of Hoskins Drug Store for the past 20 years, as a pharmacy technician.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, George Comer and Edith Comer; brother, Gary Comer; sisters, Brenda Marple, Debra Bolton, and Patricia Proffitt; and husband, Jay Fateley.
Valerie leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter, Lisa Emert and husband Bryan; grandchildren, Reagan Glandon and Chase Glandon, who were one of the greatest joys of her life, Cody Emert and wife McKenzie; and son, Jax; along with many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow in the chapel.

DORIS 'DOODLES' MAYES

Doris “Doodles” Mayes, 69, a lifelong resident of Anderson County, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.
She was born Aug. 9, 1953, in Knoxville to Carl and Blanche Mayes. She was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher. Doodles graduated from Clinton High School in 1971 where she served as the first female Student Council President and was an avid athlete. She was a true Dragon and upon college graduation went back to Clinton to pursue her teaching passion. Doodles was the PE teacher at Clinton Middle School for 30-plus years. Once a Dragon always a Dragon.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by: Brother, C.W. Mayes Jr.; and nephew, Michael Wayne Davis.
She is survived by: Sister, Pat Albertini and husband Joe of Clinton; nieces, Michelle Manning and husband Mark of Andersonville and Manda Pyatt and husband Jonathan of Norris; nephew, Walter Mayes and wife Amanda of Andersonville, Robert Mayes and wife Wendy of Andersonville; great-nieces and nephews, Tori and Tyler Pyatt, Taylor Davis, Allie and Eberle Mayes, Mattie and Mason Manning, and Cooper and Adelyn Mayes; sister-in-law, Rhonda Mayes; several great nieces and great-nephews.
The family is honoring Doodle’s wishes and there will be no services.
She would like her family and friends to remember her as walking upright and tall, in good health, playing golf, and most of all loving the Lord and teaching his word.

CATHY RAGSDALE JOHNSON

Cathy Ragsdale Johnson, 63, Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Cathy was the daughter of the late Charles William and Willie Ragsdale. Cathy was a devoted member and enjoyed attending at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her beloved parents in their time of need, she also enjoyed spending time with animals.
She is survived by: Very special friend and partner, Terry Gallaher of Oak Ridge; sons, James Singleton of Maryland and David Johnson of Iowa; brother, Charles Ragsdale Jr. and wife Melinda of Clinton; sisters, Jean Isaacs and husband Troy of Oak Ridge and Joyce Thompson of Maryland; grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jeremy of Iowa.
She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton.

Raymond W. Boggs, 78, Clinton, passed away at his residence Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022.
He was born Nov. 6, 1944, in Bethel, Ohio, to the late Raymond F. and Mildred Boggs. Raymond was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Throughout his life, he loved working on cars, especially antique cars. For many years he worked at RT Clapp Automotive in Oak Ridge as an auto technician.
Raymond is survived by: Loving wife of 53 years, Carol Boggs of Clinton; daughter, Angela Boggs Clute and husband James of Oak Ridge; grandson, Austin Clute of Oak Ridge; brother, Gary Boggs and wife Helen of California; sister, Martha Lu Stanford; several nieces and nephews

Billy Joe Henderson Sr., 77, Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Sacred Ground Hospice House.
Billy was a member of Riverview Baptist Church and attended North Knoxville Baptist Church. Billy owned and operated H&S Logging for 45 years with his brother-in-law, Frankie Shelton. Billy loved fishing and was an avid bass fisherman. He never met a stranger and loved to talk. He also loved going to watch his granddaughter, Makenzie “Pook,” play softball.
Billy will be remembered as a family man that loved his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Anyone that knew Billy knew that he loved to share his testimony and God’s plan of salvation.
He was preceded in death by: Daughter, Regina Silvey; parents, James and Elsie Henderson; brother, Pete Jones; sisters, Bobbie Monroe, Polly Sherrod, and Beattie Shelton.
He leaves behind: Wife, Cathy Henderson of Knoxville; children, Lisa Seeber and husband Harlon of Clinton, B.J. Henderson and wife Jennifer of Clinton, and Mitchell Posey of Knoxville; grandchildren, Christi Greene and husband Russ, Brittany Watson and husband Jonathan, Rachael Silvey, and MaKenzie Henderson; great-grandchildren, Bryson Greene, Jacob Watson, Brennan Greene, and Job Watson; sisters, Wilma “Tootsie” Steverson of Georgia, Wanda McCown and husband Mike of Karns, and Debra Roop and husband Rick; son-in-law, Mark Silvey; brothers-in-law, David Monroe and Dale Sherrod; several nieces, nephews, and host of other family and friends.

Claude Gene McCuiston, Clinton, passed away at his home peacefully surrounded by his family Dec. 7, 2022.
Claude was born Oct. 18. 1944.
Preceded in death by: Father, Wade McCuiston; mother, Ophelia McCuiston Ault Miller, Arthur Ault (stepfather), George Miller Sr.; sister, Iva Joe; brothers, Cecil and Howard McCuiston; stepbrothers, Dickie Ault, and George Miller Jr.; grandmother, Ester Parsley.
Claude leaves behind: Wife Susie; daughters, Susan Lewis Saine (Heith) and Heather Mahoney (Ryan); brother, Bill McCuiston (Peggy); grandchildren, Kailey Lewis, Caden Saine, Colby Lewis, Abigail Mahoney, Natalie Mahoney and Cooper Saine; and many friends and family.
Claude had a love for life. Loving husband of 52 years, wonderful father, and grandfather to six grandchildren. His friends called him Mackie and he was always referred to as “good ole Claude.”
He was an avid golfer, reader, Fox News watcher, Don Williams listener, long member of First Baptist Church of Clinton. Claude was a proud Marine who loved to show his American pride. Graduate of Clinton High School retired from Ornl and K-25 after 30 years, he also had Claude McCuiston roofing company for more than 20 years.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, with the service to follow at Holley Gamble Funeral Home Clinton.
Claude's burial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at Grandview Memorial Gardens Clinton, with full military honors presented by Campbell County honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers foundation T2T.org or First Baptist Church Life Center.
