EDWARD LOUIS HAUFE JR.

Edward Louis Haufe Jr. passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 30, 2020, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Edward is survived by his wife, Verna Pauline Phelps Haufe; his son, Edward Louis Haufe III (Connie) Haufe; daughter, Roseann (Robert) Read; daughter, Linda (Timothy) Nutter; daughter, Margaret Haufe; stepdaughter, Kim (William) Reid; stepdaughter, Jill Eubanks; and granddaughters, Beth Ford, Kirsten Read, Kayla Bresser, and Lynae Bresser; grandson, Devin Bresser; great-grandson, Nathan Dishneau; and his ex-wife and mother of his children, Cecilia Antoinette Strauss.
Edward was preceded in death by: Parents, Edward Louis Haufe Sr. and Agnes Mae (Fusek) Haufe; his son, James Charles Haufe; his granddaughter, Mandella Marie Haufe; and several aunts, uncles, and other members of his extended family.
Edward was born in 1929 in Columbus, Ohio, and was raised in Wheeling, W. Va., during the Great Depression.
Edward attended Wheeling High School, where he was on the swim team. He loved boxing and participated in Golden Gloves boxing competitions. After high school, Edward served in the Navy Reserve. Edward then completed an apprenticeship and became a journeyman machinist, a highly skilled trade, in which he was able to operate all of the various metalworking tools in machine shops. Edward also worked briefly for a time as a technical artist, designing time and temperature signs for American Sign and Indicator. Upon moving to Tennessee, Edward worked for Oak Ridge National Laboratory at the K-25 Plant, from which he retired.
While Edward spent his entire childhood in Wheeling, W. Va., he moved many times around the United States with his family. From West Virginia, to Ohio, to Florida, to Louisiana, back to West Virginia, to California, to Idaho, to Connecticut, and finally to Tennessee, where he had lived since 1976.
Edward enjoyed gardening, music, anything chocolate, classic scary movies, spiders, snakes, all sorts of creatures, and his beloved cats. Edward had a wonderful, wry sense of humor and was always making those around him laugh. While it was primarily only a hobby, Edward also had great artistic talent, and created many incredible oil paintings, drawings, and cartoons throughout his life, including political cartoons for various local newspapers.
Edward was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his family.
MARY RUTH RHEA

Mary Ruth Rhea, 93, Briceville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She will be dearly missed by her family and the Briceville community. Mary was well known in the community, running Mary’s Snack Bar for many years, where she served the best hamburgers and hot dogs around. To know her was to love her, and there was never a person she met that she didn’t love. She truly had a heart of gold and saw the best in everyone. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Briceville, where she attended regularly until her health no longer allowed.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Elmer and Dicie Rhea; sister, Helen Rhea; sister and brother-in-law, Rubye and Leo Hatmaker; nephew, Gary Hatmaker; nephews-in-law, Paul Anderson and Glen Ramey.
Survivors: Nephews, Randall (Kathy) Hatmaker of Briceville, Jerry (Pam) Hatmaker of Briceville; niece, Judy Ramey of Corryton; niece-in-law, Susan Hatmaker of Andersonville; a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews; special extended family, Floyd (Nig) and Violet Hatmaker of Briceville; special friend, Winnie Wilson of Briceville.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Manisha Thakur, Robert Dowell and staff at Family Medicine West, the staff at NHC Healthcare of Oak Ridge, and the nursing staff of 4 West at Methodist Medical Center.
A visitation was held from noon–2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Hatmaker Funeral Home.
The funeral began at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Lawson, the Rev. Tim Russell, and the Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating.
Interment followed the funeral at Leach Cemetery in Lake City.

HENRY LUTHER ‘LUKE’ McWANE
December 29, 2020
Henry Luther “Luke” McWane passed away Dec. 29, 2020, at the age of 90 at his home in Clinton.
Luke was born March 7, 1930, in Robertsville to Henry and Annie (McGhee) McWane. He was a proud graduate of Clinton High School — Class of 1949. After graduating from high school he joined the Army National Guard and was stationed at West Point, N.Y. He then went to work for Union Carbide at K-25 and was retired from Y-12.
Luke leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, June (Wallace) McWane, and his daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and David Grant of Maryville, Tennessee.
He loved spending time with his two grandsons, Jack and Andrew Grant, as well as his extended family: Sister-in-law, Joann Porter and husband Ralph; two nieces, Carol Henderson and Penny Crabtree; nephew, Wally Porter and wife Kay; great-nephews, Jon Henderson and wife Becky, Samuel Porter and wife Susan, Aaron Porter and wife Lynnsey; great-nieces, Kaylee Keck and husband Tyler, Rachel Crabtree; great-great-nieces, Addison, Emily, Elearie and Ilah Porter; and great-great-nephew, Kasen Keck.
Luke enjoyed spending time working on his old cars with friends. He was a master storyteller as well as a prankster. His smile, laugh and love will be missed.
The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers Carol, Cassie, Jasmine, Megan, Ashley, Randi, Angie and Janice and all the staff at Quality Private Duty Care.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family only at this time. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask that you make a contribution to a charity of your choice in honor of Luke.
GERALDINE WILSON DUVALL

Geraldine Wilson Duvall, 89, Lake City, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at Summit View of Rocky Top.
She was born April 9, 1931, in Campbell County to George and Ivory Seiber Wilson.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her brother, Charles G. Wilson.
Survivors: Daughter, Darlene Stagnolia; grandchildren, Dion, Daniel, Desiree and Natashe Stagnolia; great-grandchildren, Madison, Riley, Myca, Harper, Nathaniel and Reshell; sister, Nona Burress; nephews and nieces, Lindell Wilson, Jimmy Burress, Greg Burress, Jean Hayton, Pat Lynch and Misty McKamey
Family and friends dropped in at their convenience from noon–5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Hatmaker Funeral Home.
Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City with the Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating.
Interment followed the graveside service.

Mary Pauline Sharp, 92, Lake City, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at Summit View of Rocky Top.
She was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Cheatham County to Jessie Clarence and Gracie Henrietta Abernathy Dowlen. Pauline was a member of Longfield Baptist Church in Lake City.
She was preceded in death by: Parents; son, Johnny Sharp; brother, Jessie Dowlen Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bob Chambers; and nephew, Larry Chambers.
Survivors: Daughter, Kathy Dowlen Baird of Lake City; grandchildren, Brandon Baird and Stephanie of Powell, Chris Baird of Powell, Justin Sharp and Stacey of Lake City; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Connor Baird.
Visitation was held from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Hatmaker Funeral Home.
Funeral was at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Disney officiating.
Interment was at noon, Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Woodlawn Cemetery in LaFollette.

Avery Lowe, 76, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2020.
Avery retired from the Georgia National Guard after 22 years of service. He was a member of Norris First Baptist Church. He enjoyed making fishing lures and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Edna Lowe.
He is survived by: Loving wife of 51 years, Mary Scruggs Lowe; children, Christy Lowe and Bryan Lowe of Dahlonega, Ga.; brother, Jerry Lowe and wife Clara of Conyers, Ga., and Jake Lowe of Stockbridge, Ga.; sister, Janice Lowe of Clinton; brother-in-law, Kenneth Scruggs; sister-in-law, Shirley Scruggs; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family received friends from noon – 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2020, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.
His funeral service followed in the chapel with the Rev. David Seiber officiating. His graveside will followed at Norris Memorial Garden.

Angela Michelle Roberts Hauschildt, 49, Rocky Top, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at Parkwest Medical Center from complications of COVID-19.
She is survived by: Loving husband, Curby Hauschildt; children include, son William “Justin” White (husband of Kelsey White) and son Austin Blake White; parents include, Linda Roberts and Doug Roberts (husband of Angela’s stepmother Shirley Roberts); siblings include, Amy Bray (wife of Bobby Bray), Lisa Dake (wife of Ralph Dake), and brother Darren Roberts; granddaughter, Avery Illene White; nieces and nephews include, Dylan White, Alexia and Isabella Wisham, Lorali and Caroline Dake, Bethany and Brandon Bray, Katie Dave Manning; and great-nephew, Neylan White.
Angela was a devoted wife to Curby for 11 years and a loving mother to her children. Angela worked at Vol Market #3 for 12 years. Angela was known for being a caregiver to both humans and animals. She had a hobby of caring for and fostering cats over the years. She was a loving caregiver for many families during the past seven years. She lived life to the fullest with her husband. Angela and her husband enjoyed visiting theme parks (to ride roller coasters), water parks, snowboarding, and four-wheeling. She enjoyed being Nana to Avery for the past three-and-a-half years. She was a beautiful, kind, caring person who loved the Lord. She will be forever loved and missed, but not forgotten.
Visitation will be from 5–9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at Crossroads Christ Fellowship in Claxton.
A Celebration Of Life will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at Crossroads Christ Fellowship with Pastor Don Payne officiating.

Elsie Gault McCarthy, 89, a lifelong resident of Clinton and Claxton, left her loving family on Christmas Day - her favorite time of year.
Born in 1931, Elsie was the daughter of C.A. and Flora Gault and grew up on a farm with her eight siblings in the Claxton community.
She was a career woman who began at Magnet Mills in Clinton at 16 and subsequently worked 30-plus years at the K-25 and Y-12 plants in Oak Ridge. Her husband, Joseph McCarthy, as well as her parents, preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by: Siblings, Helen Thomas, Ruby Jean Gann, C.H. Gault, Flora Alice Lewis, and Mary Ben-Eliezer; granddaughter, Laura Stewart
She is survived by: Brother, Frank Gault; and sisters, Allie Harrington and Beverly Disney.
Elsie was most proud of her children and grandchildren. Children: Linda Stewart Burnett and husband Jackson Walker; Kathy Stewart Melton, and Gene Stewart; grandchildren, Samantha Russell Babb, Kari Russell, Sonya Stewart, Clint Stewart, and Garrett Stewart; great-grandchildren, Katie Babb Foster, Cole Babb, Ashleay Abston, Alexa Carroll, and Dylan Russell; great-great-grandchildren, Emory, Addyson, and Hayden Foster, Leeland Davis, Corbin Wood, and Owen Babb.
