MARGARET JANE (JANIE) DOUGLAS

It is with deepest sympathy we announce the sudden passing of Margaret Jane (Janie) Douglas, Sept. 7, 2020.
She was the wife of Bishop Donald R. Douglas of Rocky Top and they shared 57 years together. Janie was born in Lake City June 18, 1947, and was the daughter of Lige and Ethel Sharp, also of Lake City.
It is impossible to sum up her life in a short paragraph, but Janie lived. She saw the wonder of God in everyday things, flowers, the dawning of a new day’s sun, the peace of the cool evening, the laughter of her grandchildren, the fellowship of friends, and above all in her relationship with Jesus Christ.
Janie was pleasant to meet and always shared a kind word of encouragement and worked tirelessly for the Kingdom of God and for this she will be remembered always.
She is survived by: Husband, Donald R. Douglas of Rocky Top; children, Donald Eric Douglas of Rocky Top and David Mark Douglas and his wife Stacy Douglas of Powell; grandchildren, Taylor Gayle Douglas, Davanna and Jeff Foust, Darby Kate Douglas, Audriana Abbott (Andrew L.), Diva Janeway, Chandler Abbott, Parker and Jenna Douglas; great-grandchildren, Ariel and Jackson Foust, Addilyn Abbott; sister, Joann Nelson and her husband Ray Nelson of Clinton.
She was predeceased by Lige and Ethel Sharp of Lake City.
Family and friends gathered at Holley Gamble funeral home in Caryville at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, to go in funeral procession to Oak Grove Cemetery with final gravesite services with the Reverend Lonnie Lyke officiating at 10 a.m.

CLETA FAY BRADEN LONG

Cleta Fay Braden Long, 84, of the Laurel Grove Community, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 6, 2020.
She was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Anderson County to the late William and Sally Braden. She was baptized July 11, 1948. At the time of her death she held the longest membership at Indian Bluff Baptist Church.
Cleta was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her needlecrafts were exceptional, making many quilts for her family and friends. She also loved canning and cooking. Cleta would work hard canning and preserving everything she could and give it away.
Cleta was a faithful Christian and an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Husband, J.L. Long; sisters, Cora Bailey, Wilma Hooks, Helen Mlinarcik, Mary Grace Williams, Bonnie Long, and Vandalee Hensley; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Long.
Survivors include: Sons, Ricky Long of Briceville, Dennis Long and wife Missy of Briceville, Philip Long of Briceville; grandchildren, Jess Long and Sarah, Paul Long and Kitt, Ronnie Long and Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Savannah Long, Dylan Long, Madeline Long, Luke Long; brother, William "Dub" Braden.

Barbara Ann Wilson, 85, Lake City passed away Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at Freedom Assisted Living in Sevierville.
She was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Petros to the late Hubert and Lucy Mcelhaney Stonecipher. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake City. She was retired from K-25 and enjoyed watching sports and spending time with her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by: Parents; husband, Virgil “Buck” Wilson; brother, Leon Stonecipher; sisters, Rondy Leffew and Theda Farmer.
Survivors: Niece, Judy Kilgore and husband Darrel of LaFollette; nephews, Larry Leffew and wife Jewel of Duff, Gary Farmer and wife Kaye of Seymour; great-niece, Carol Stevens of LaFollette; great-nephews, Chris Leffew and wife Christy of Duff, Dustin Farmer of Knoxville; great-great-nieces, Megan Leffew of Duff, McKenzie Stevens of LaFollette; great-great-nephews, Shane Stevens of LaFollette, Bryan Leffew of Duff; very special friends, Raymond Jobe and wife Sandy of Lake City.

Teresa Hargett, 58, Clinton, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, at her sister’s home in Clinton.
She was a very proud mom and “Mimi.” Teresa was very energetic, loved sports, enjoyed teaching her children how to play ball, and was a University of Tennessee Vols fan. She took pride in taking care of her home.
Teresa was preceded in death by: Father, John Butler; mother, Wanda Butler; stepfather, Carl Butler; brother, Thomas Butler; sister, Patricia Huett; and half-brother, Steve Ramsey.
Teresa is survived by: Sons, Tony Hargett and Danielle Anderson of Clinton, Jeremy Hargett of Clinton, Jimmy Hargett of Clinton, and Josh Hargett of Clinton; daughter, Thresa Butler Smith and Tim of Clinton; brothers, John Butler and Rose of Heiskell, Robert Butler and Charlene of Heiskell; half-brother, Tim Ramsey of Ohio; stepbrother, Mike Butler of Florida; sisters, Christina Pennington and Joe of New Jersey, and Tammy Butler of Clinton; 11 grandchildren, Carson Hargett, Kyleigh Anderson, Alexis Hargett, Jeremy Burress, Lyric Hargett, Hasidy Collins, Jordan Hargett, Tevin Braden, Johnathon Latella, Zachery Latella, and Taylor Smith, all of Clinton; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Tina and the rest of the team with U.T. Hospice that had cared for Teresa during her illness.

The family met at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, to prepare for her funeral procession to New Loyston Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Maynardville for her 11 a.m. graveside service.

Joyce Dye, 72, Clinton, went home to be with her heavenly father Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, at her residence.
Joyce retired from K-25 and Y-12 as a cafeteria worker and machine cleaner after 40-plus years of service. Throughout her life Joyce loved cooking and was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Charles Alfonso and Artie Knaff Young; brother, Edward M. Asbury.
She is survived by: Son, Robert Dye and wife Shelia; daughter, Sonia Dye and husband Melvin Williams; grandchildren, Brittany Scalf and husband Ricky, Ajai Coleman, Branden Dye, and Brandi Loving and wife Jessica; great-grandchildren; Elliot Barnett, and Tryston Dye; sister, Lillie March; niece, Cassandra Love; nephew, Billy Love and wife Heather; sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Harris and husband Robert, and Leola Harris; brother-in-law, John Dye and wife Waynette.

Linda Sue Hatmaker, 79, LaFollette, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, at Lafollette Medical Center.
Linda was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Lake City to the late Erby and Laveda Hatmaker Foust. Linda served as a former bookkeeper for John Ward Pontiac and bookkeeper/office manager for Lewallen Miller Department Store. She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Lake City.
Linda loved her boys and they were her pride and joy. She was always there for them in any school, church, or extracurricular activity and served in various volunteer capacities.
Linda was a member of Coal Creek OES Chapter #226 where she served as a Treasurer and past Worthy Matron. Linda also served as a Grand Page at the Grand Chapter of the State of Tennessee and was also recognized by them in 1992. Linda was a born again Christian and loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by: Husband, Jimmy Jack Hatmaker Sr.; son, David Dewayne Hatmaker; and brother, William Lavern Foust.
Survivors: Sons, Jimmy Jack “JJ” Hatmaker of Lake City, Timothy “Tim” Hatmaker and Bethany of Knoxville; brother, Joe Foust and Martha of Knoxville; sisters, Helen Braden and Steve of Lake City, Ellen Bunch of Clinton, Vickie Hill and Wayne of Acworth, Ga.; grandchild, Jacob Hatmaker; special nieces, Rachel Stiner, Harper Stiner, Dazey Greene, and Lydia Queener; and a host of other family, friends, and relatives.

James Henry Price, 79, passed away Tuesday Sept. 2, 2020.
James (Jim) was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He died peacefully surrounded by family in Windsor, Va.
He was the eldest son of Benjamin Henry Price and Clara Ann Price.
Jim is survived by: Wife of 47 years, Gloria Price; six children, Jamey Price, Jeffrey Price (Susan), Traci Price, Holly Patterson (Joe), Byron Price, John Price (Chrissy); 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his loving brother and sister, Charles Price and wife Kay, and Kathryn Church and husband Dwight; as well as six nieces and nephews.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Jim began his career as a department store manager. He also owned a successful chain of nursery schools and was a longtime realtor in Charlotte, N.C., where he spent most of his adult life.
Besides his family, Jim had many loves — a good conversation, a good book, thunder storms, rocking chairs, a cup of coffee. He loved sports. Excelling at multiple sports throughout school, Jim cherished watching his children and grandchildren compete at anything. He was the ultimate coach and cheerleader.
When asked, Jim always said he was from South Clinton. He spent hours of long car rides telling his kids fantastic stories of his family and friends and their seemingly idyllic youth in South Clinton.

MARNA GALYON HOTLE
September 2, 2020
Marna Galyon Hotle, 92, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, at The Waters of Clinton.
Marna was born on May 16, 1928, to Walter Olan and Winnie Swicegood Galyon.
She was the middle of five siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. They were: Ernestine Cross, Dr. L. E. (Ed) Galyon, Don Galyon, and Betty France.
She was married June 14, 1947, to the Rev. E. Ray Hotle, and they were together 58 years before his death in 2005. She spent her life serving as a faithful pastor's wife as her husband pastored churches in Tennessee and southern Indiana. She spent the majority of her working career working for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Ind. For several years she was the private secretary and administrative assistant to one of the vice-presidents of Cummins. Following his promotion to president of a subsidiary company in England, she spent the remainder of her career as a bookkeeper and accountant in their General Office Building. She retired from Cummins in 1986 at the age of 58.
Marna was an outstanding pianist and for a number of years was sought out as an accompanist at conventions and church gatherings. One of her sons' favorite memories was listening to his mother sit at the piano at night after the house was dark and play "Overshadowed" or "When They Ring Those Golden Bells."
Her youngest granddaughter, in a moving Facebook tribute wrote, "I'm thankful for the sewing kit that she would pull out in church to keep me occupied when I was little. . . I'm thankful for her making extravagant doll houses from cardboard boxes and magazine people." She was an amazing Mother, Grandmother, and Christian lady.
She is survived by: Only son, Dr. Marlin R. Hotle and his wife Darla of Clinton; three granddaughters, Sonya and husband Detective Sgt. Scott Gregory of Clinton, Amber and husband Prof. Jay Wisler of Jackson, Ky., Heather and husband the Rev. Gene Swartz of Ashland, Ky.
She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren whom she adored, Preston Gregory, Nathan Gregory, Caleb Wisler, Emily Wisler, Tyler Wisler, Noah Aiden Swartz and Annie Swartz.
She is also survived by: Brother-in-law, Oliver France; sister-in-law, Bonnie and husband Bob Weinmann; and sister-in-law, Jane Mandrell; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at the Bridges Funeral Home from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, followed by the funeral service with the Rev. David Speas, the Rev. Sam Condon, and Dr. Marlin Hotle officiating.
The funeral service will be live-streamed securely at Bridges Funeral Home website.
The graveside service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at the Hope Moravian Cemetery in Hope, Ind., with the Rev. Gene Swartz officiating.
