Moody takes second at Victor Ashe Park Fall Classic
On Saturday, Maddy Moody of Anderson County High School took second place in the 2017 Victor Ashe Park Fall Classic in Knoxville with a time of 19:54.74.
Cathryn Jardet of Hardin Valley Academy won the race with a time of 19:48.02.
Anderson County’s Mollie Longmire finished in 12th place out of 150 runners.
Moody and Longmire qualified for the state meet last year and are on pace to return to state this year.
Hardin Valley Academy won the girls’ team competition.
Anderson County did not have enough girls competing to qualify for the team competition.
On the boys’ side, Seth Bowden of Maryville won first place with a time of 16:49.39. The top finisher for ACHS was Kirby Logan, who managed to slog through the wet and muddy trail for 22nd place out of 179 runners.
His finishing time was 18:13.66.
The Mavericks finished in eighth place as a team out of 22 teams competing.
Maryville won the team competition among the boys’ teams.
Anderson County will host a meet at Norris Dam on Sept. 14. Clinton High School will also participate in the race.
