During the Anderson County Commission meeting Monday, Sept. 18, Anderson County Commissioners voted to elect Dist. 4 Commissioner Tim Isbel to serve as the commission’s new chairman, replacing Dist. 3 Commissioner Steve Emert, who served two terms as chair.

“I’m not going to put my name in the hat this year. I think it’s the duty of some other individual on this bench to hold this seat. Thank you for supporting me,” stated Emert on Monday, before giving up his chairman seat.

The vote by commission to elect Isbel as chair was unanimous.

Next, Theresa Scott, Dist. 7 comissioner, made the motion to elect Phil Warfield, commissioner from Dist. 3, to serve as the Commission’s vice-chair. The vote for Warfield as vice-chair was also unanimous.

Commissioners also elected a new parliamentarian to replace former commission parliamentarian Myron Iwanski. Serving as the Commission’s new parliamentarian is Robert McKamey, Dist. 5 commissioner.

Following the elections, commissioners immediately started to work in their new positions Monday night.
