The Green McAdoo Cultural Center in Clinton is hosting the “Slaves and Slaveholders of Wessyngton Plantation” Tennessee State Museum traveling exhibit this month, starting Oct. 4 and continuing until Oct. 30. The exhibit, “Slaves and Slaveholders of Wessyngton Plantation,” looks at the lives of both the enslaved African Americans and their white owners on the 13,000 acre plantation in Robertson County, Tenn. It was organized by the Tennessee State Museum with support from the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area. Tennessee State Museum personnel arrived with the exhibit Tuesday, Oct. 3, to set up the artifacts, films, and informational panels that will be featured in the exhibit. Rob DeHart, Curator of History at the Tennessee State Museum, is pictured setting up one of the displays.
