Senators beat Rams 46-24
The Rams took the opening kickoff but were unable to pick up a first down and punted the ball away.
The Senators took over at their own 49-yard and promptly marched 51 yards in eight plays as Gavin Noe and Tate Russell picked up chunks of yardage with each carry. Noe scored on a four-yard run. Brandon Miller ran in the two-point conversion to make it 8-0 in favor of Norris with 1:28 left in the first quarter.
On the following possession, the Rams put together a solid drive that took them from their own 36-yard down to the Norris 29, where they turned it over on downs.
The Senators picked up where they left off on the previous drive as Bryson Vowell had runs of nine and seven yards while Noe had carries of six, 10, two, eight, and 10 yards. Russell capped the eight-play drive with a 14-yard touchdown run.
The two-point conversion attempt failed but Norris led 14-0 with 2:22 left in the first half.
The Senators forced the Rams to turn the ball over on downs at the Roberstville 41-yard line.
Russell then completed an 18-yard pass to Miller before firing a 23-yard touchdown pass to Vowell.
The two-point conversion attempt was good as the Senators recovered a fumble in the end zone to make the score 22-0 with 22.1 seconds left in the first half.
The Rams returned the ensuing kickoff for a score but the two-point conversion attempt failed. The Senators led 22-6 at the half.
Norris opened the third quarter with a five-play, 51-yard drive highlighted by a 24-yard run by Noe in which he managed to zig zag through the Rams’ secondary to bring up a first down at the Ram’s 14-yard line. Two plays later, Russell threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Miller. The two-point conversion attempt failed but Norris led 28-6 with 5:48 left in the third quarter.
A flurry of scoring took place in the fourth quarter — largely on kick returns for the Rams.
Vowell answered with a kick return for a touchdown for the Senators. He also caught another long touchdown pass from Russell and Noe scored on a 60-plus yard run to make the final 46-24.
The Senators will host Christian Academy of Knoxville on Saturday at 10 a.m. The game was moved due to the Clinton-Anderson County High School game being played Thursday at ACHS.
Norris moved to 4-0 with the win.
