Good Sports program kicks off
In 1993, a new, sustainable tradition emerged from the recycle bins around Neyland Stadium and the Good Sports program was born. Since that time, the Good Sports program has expanded across campus, making an impact at the University of Tennessee, and through its School Challenge, with schools and students across the state.
“Since we started the Good Sports Always Give Back program, it has awarded more than $160,000 to Tennessee K-12 schools through the school challenge,” said Hanneke Counts, vice president of global health, safety, environment and security at Eastman.
Tennessee schools with programs designed to actively manage environmental impact or educate students and communities about environmental stewardship are eligible and encouraged to enter the statewide competition.
The 2018 Good Sports School Challenge is officially launched, and eight schools will be awarded $1,000; one exemplary school will be awarded $1,500 for the GSAR Sustainability Steward Award; and one school will be awarded $1,500 for the Best New Program. Schools can fill out a short, 10-question nomination form at www.Eastman.com/GSAGB by Oct. 5, 2018 to enter for a chance to win.
The Good Sports Always Give Back program is sponsored by Eastman, Food City and Waste Connections, in conjunction with the University of Tennessee.
