Clinch River Community School thrilled with community support

Clinch River Community School
Clinch River Community School, a K-12 school specializing in education for students who require additional support outside of the traditional school setting, kicked off fall break in true essence of fall and community spirit.

Once the call went out that pumpkins and paint were needed for a school-wide project, help poured in from church youth groups to individuals in the community. Heeding the call to fund almost the complete project were Unleashed Student Ministry in Newport and Hannah’s Inc, a local catering business.

The goal? Pumpkin painting for every student in the school.

Pumpkins were delivered early Monday morning and students picked out the one they wanted to transform and worked on it until the contest deadline on Thursday. Students painted a variety of themes, from storybook characters to creepy, fun spiders and ghoulish eyeballs. After the judges came to a most difficult decision for the best pumpkin for elementary, middle, and high school levels, the artists were awarded the grand prize of a special gourmet apple from Kilwins and a candy bucket.

This fun experience and the camaraderie among students was a great way to end the nine weeks and edge into fall break.
