Lady Mavs pick up win at Karns
The Anderson County Lady Mavericks (12-12, 4-8) would have no issues against a struggling Lady Beavers program. Cruising easily to a 72-28 win over Karns.
Senior post Brooklin McCoy would lead all scorers with a 20-point outing. McCoy would score eight of her points in the first quarter, as the Lady Mavs opened up a 18-8 lead.
Following behind McCoy was senior guard Maci Houser, who put up 17 points. Houser would heat up in the second quarter, scoring ten of the Lady Mavs’ 18 quarter points. Anderson County led Karns 36-17 at the break.
The Lady Mavs offense continued to pour it on in the second half.
Freshman point guard Shae Berry scored eight of her 11 total points in the third quarter. Also, McCoy would add six points, and the Lady Mavs went into the fourth quarter with a commanding 56-28 advantage. If a comfortable lead heading into the fourth quarter is not dominant, holding a team scoreless for eight minutes of basketball is.

Offensively, Tea’ Hickson would lead the Lady Mavs—scoring six of her 14 total points in the final quarter of play.
McCoy, Hickson, Houser, and Berry would all finish the night with scoring totals in the double-digits.
Sitting sixth in the District-3AAA standings, this week is an important one for the Anderson County ladies.
The Lady Mavs play both teams in front of them.
The Lady Mavs are two games behind Clinton, and have the same record as Halls, but lost the first head-to-head.
However, this week, Anderson County will finish up district play with bouts at Halls on Tuesday, before a massive game at Clinton on Friday.
If the Lady Mavs beat Halls and Clinton, they can steal the fourth spot from Clinton — only if the Lady Dragons drop two of their last three district contests.
Expect the Lady Mavs to be at their best this week.
