Clinton man charged with vehicular homicide, D.U.I.
A Clinton man has been charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence (D.U.I.) following a Friday evening crash that killed a 64-year-old Harriman man.
The crash occurred on 25W on Copper Ridge, near the Knox County line, and near the intersection of Shepherd Lane.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeffrey Poore’s report states that a 2009 Kia Spectra, driven by Timothy Gribble, 36, Clinton, was traveling south on 25W when he failed to “maintain (his) lane of travel.”
Gribble’s Kia crossed the center line and hit a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 64-year-old Robert J. West head on. West was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Poore’s report states Gribble was injured in the crash, but there is no indication of the seriousness of those injuries, or where he was treated.
Poore’s report states Gribble was not drinking, but was, apparently, under the influence of drugs.
As standard procedure alcohol and drug tests were requested for both Gribble and West. Both drivers, the report states, were wearing seat belts.
The crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Friday, but the north bound lanes of 25W were closed down for several hours following the accident while the investigation proceeded and debris was cleaned up.
Following the initial investigation Gribble was charged with vehicular homicide and D.U.I.
There was no indication in the report where Gribble was transported.
