Staff member of Patriot wins award
The staff at University of the Cumberlands’ student newspaper The Patriot raked in 29 General Excellence awards, three Advertising Excellence awards and one 2018 Most Valuable Member award at the annual KPA (Kentucky Press Association) Banquet.
Tyler Kohn of Rocky Top was a member of the 2018 newspaper staff. Kohn won First Place- Best Column, Best Enterprise or Analytical Story.
In total, The Patriot received 11 first place awards, 13 second place awards, three third place awards and one certificate of merit, in addition to the advertising awards.
Two make Berea honors
More than 430 Berea College students were named to the Fall 2018 Dean’s List.
A student is named to the Dean’s List who achieves a GPA of 3.4 or higher while passing at least 4 total credits, a course load equivalent to 16 semester hours.
Named to the Dean’s List are: Megan McEahern and Katherine Roach of Oak Ridge.
Gubanc makes Dean’s List
Holly Gubanc of Oak Ridge (37830) was named to the Dean’s List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2018 Fall Semester. Gubanc is in the mechanical engineering program.
Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean’s List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of “Incomplete”, “D” or “F”; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
