Getting the job at JA Biztown
by Catherine Meredith, Emilee Metcalf, Kira Murphy, and Tara Pickel
On Feb. 1, CMS students had the wonderful experience of getting career ready at JA Biztown.
They practiced soft skills, good handshakes, and even did a mock job interview.
Suzi Schmidt, the Chief Academic Officer of Middle Grades for Anderson County Schools and advocate for the field trip told us, “The purpose of the JA trip was to expose students to skills that are necessary in getting a job.
“Looking people in the eye, speaking clearly, and being able to answer questions to potential employers are all necessary in obtaining jobs. Exposure to these skills will help students have a better understanding of what to expect in a job interview...its never too early to be prepared.”
CMS students are making strides every day to be career ready!
Clinton Middle 8th Graders attend Knox Co. Career Fair
by Hawk Talk Staff
On Feb. 12, twenty-six 8th graders took time after school to go the Knox County Career Fair at the Expo Center.
Dozens of colleges and companies were represented and students were able to talk with professionals and entrance counselors about their futures.
Some of the favorites included hairstyling with the TN School of Beauty, getting their hands dirty with real animal organs in Roane State’s medical program, and watching KUB teach lesson on electrical line safety.
There were so many great opportunities and all of our students networked like rock stars!
