Registration open for June 15 HonorAir Flights

HonorAir Knoxville announced registration is now open to World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans interested in participating in the organization’s second “flightless flight”. The program will duplicate the experience of participating in an HonorAir trip without ever leaving the ground.

HonorAir was founded and is sponsored by Prestige Cleaners and Prestige Tuxedo. It is dedicated to taking as many East Tennessee veterans as possible to Washington DC to see the memorials built to honor their sacrifices.

According to Eddie Mannis, President of Prestige Cleaners and Chairman of HonorAir, “Being wheel chair bound or on oxygen does not prevent veterans from going on an HonorAir flight. However, some veterans are not able to fly for a variety of other medical or emotional reasons. Consequently, we are sponsoring this program so all veterans can enjoy seeing the memorials.”

The program will honor all aspects of the trip except for the actual flight. The excitement of the day will be captured in a high definition video documentary. Veterans will receive snacks, HonorAir gifts and other surprises. The program will take off at Bridgewater Event Center on June 15 at no cost to the veteran. Doors will open at 9 a.m.

Interested veterans must go to honorairknoxville.com and download, complete and return the on-line virtual flight application. The address and fax number are on the application. They can also call 865-859-9279 for more information. If an assisted care facility has veterans eligible for the program they must also complete an application for each veteran they are sending. Reservations will be made on a first-come-first-served basis. The program is limited to 100 veterans.
