Pregnant woman trapped in car after hit and run in Clinton
A pregnant woman was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on April 18.
Due to her injuries, an emergency C-section was performed once she got to the hospital. The baby is still in NICU, and the victim had a second emergency operation to remove her spleen.
The driver, 48-year-old Bobby Lindsay, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended or revoked license, driving uninsured, leaving the scene of the accident, vehicular assault and driving under the influence.
He is currently in the Anderson County jail.
Lindsay ran a red light and hit the victim’s car, according to witnesses. He then jumped out of his car and ran off. The victim was trapped and unable to provide a statement to officers.
A glass pipe, scale weight, a red pill and an uncapped hypodermic needle were in plain sight in Lindsay’s car, according to the incident report.
He was apprehended shortly after.
His speech was slurred, and he staggered and stuttered once officers found him. He told officers that he didn’t notice the red light because of a loose dog in his car. Once officers searched his car, they found a spoon with white residue, tourniquet belts, more needles, folded foil and several baggies.
He has three prior offenses of driving on a revoked license.
Lindsay admitted that he had taken Lyrica and consumed meth the day before.
