Classes for sheep and goat beginners being offered
Recent trends and USDA data has shown that there is an increase in the number of farms raising small ruminants, otherwise known as sheep and goats. There is also an interest in owning backyard goats. If you raise sheep or goats or think you might be interested in raising them, then we have just the program for you. We will be having a Beginners Small Ruminant program focusing on caring for the animals, feeding them, what to do before you get them, and marketing.
This program will be taking place on June 11th at the Anderson County Extension office located in room 213 of the Anderson County courthouse. There is no cost and no sign up for this program so please feel free to drop by.
The class will be approximately 2 hours and go from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
For those of you who are interested in more detailed Small Ruminant information there is talk of hosting a Master Small Ruminant Course in Knoxville sometime this Fall. Nothing is finalized yet, but if you are interested please give us a call or drop by and let us know. In the meantime, this beginners class will get you started and provide a stepping point for future programs.
