Let freedom ring at David Hall Cabin

The public is invited to the Historic David Hall Cabin in the Claxton community this weekend for an Independence Day Celebration!

The event at the Hall Cabin, which is a nonprofit organization, will open from 11am to 5pm on July 4th. The Cabin is located at 830 Old Edgemoor Lane, Clinton. Phone number if 865-945-3807.

The Cabin was built in 1799.

Take a step back in time at one of the earliest homes and businesses in Anderson County. David Hall, a Revolutionary War soldier, who ran a tavern and inn at this site. He and his family are buried in the cemetery located a few hundred yards from the cabin.

Freedom Celebration events will include blacksmithing, tin smithing, butter churning, soap making, Flintlock rifle shooting and displays of tools, weapons, clothing, dancing, music and more.

There will be a special program to pay tribute to our WWII and Korean vets. At 2pm, there will be a reading of the Constitution of the United States and a Bell Ringing to honor the Original 13 Colonies.

A flag disposal ceremony will be conducted and the public is welcome to bring a flag from their home that is no longer displayable and take part in properly disposing of those flags.

There will be hot dogs with all the trimmings for purchase.

There is no charge to attend and all ages are welcome. Donations will be accepted for David Hall Cabin Restoration Fund.
