Fall wildflower hike scheduled by UT Arboretum
The UT Arboretum Society’s Annual Fall Wildflower Walk will be held Sept. 21 at Haw Ridge Park in Oak Ridge from 9 - 11 a.m. This year’s walk will also serve as the Arboretum Society’s monthly Third Saturday Hike.
Kris Light, an expert naturalist, educator and photographer will lead this fun, educational and easy walk. The group will meet at the kiosk by the Soccer Trail in the parking lot off Edgemoor Road at Haw Ridge. Participants may want to bring a camera to take pictures of the wildflowers. Wear clothes appropriate to the weather and boots or good shoes for outdoor walking. Be sure to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated as you hike. No pets please!
Describing the walk, Light said, “Most people think of springtime as wildflower season, but late summer and fall color the fields and roadsides in gold, purple and white. Come to the fall wildflower walk to learn more about the wildflowers of the fields. “
