Meadow View begins vaccine program

Meadow View Senior Living has a new theme as it celebrates residents and staff receiving the COVID-19 vaccine: “Hope Lives Here for Your New Year,” a release from the facility reads.

The senior-living community has begun its vaccine clinics for existing and new residents and staff.

Pam Fogerty, executive director of Meadow View, has felt a weight on her shoulders during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the responsibility for protecting the residents’ lives amid fear and uncertainty was difficult. She saw fear in the residents’ eyes and how it was affecting their minds, bodies and spirits. When Pam saw residents in line, rolling up their sleeves to get the vaccine, that weight became a little easier to bear. “Give COVID your best shot! Do it for the ones you love,” she said.

Most residents had no reactions to the vaccine other than just a little soreness in the arm. It is unanimous that everyone will be so glad to see their relatives and be together again. Residents were heard saying: “I didn’t even know when I got the shot” and “Well, that was easy.”

“This COVID-19 vaccine is safe,” one resident said. “It is not made from a virus. It is made synthetically. I did not feel any aches or pain after receiving the vaccine.”

Everyone hopes it won’t be long before everyone in Tennessee has the vaccine. Gary Keckley, chief executive officer of GoodWorks Unlimited, LLC., Owner of Meadow View, said watching residents get the vaccine was quite emotional, and rolling the vaccine out during clinic times has taken an all-hands-on-deck approach.

“Hope was in the air,” he said. “Our staff has worked very diligently to keep our Meadow View family safe and healthy, and to find creative ways to keep life purposeful during the pandemic. We are so thankful that the vaccine is being provided for all our residents and staff.”
