In a world filled with so much uncertainty and chaos, Clinton Middle School Baseball, under the direction of Brent Burger, has provided a much-needed outlet for 28 middle-school boys.

Burger has committed to instilling an incredible work ethic in these boys, pushing them to become a better version of themselves each day, teaching them both accountability and camaraderie.

On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, the Hawks participated in the Wreaths Across America annual event held at the Knoxville National Cemetery on Tyson Street.

This cemetery serves as the final resting place for more than 9,000 veterans, dating to the Civil War.

This event provided these young men with the opportunity to honor veterans, many of whom no longer have living family, by laying wreaths on their headstones and observing a moment of silence for people who wore a uniform and gave an oath to give their all for this country.

“Having the opportunity to participate in the Wreaths Across America event, knowing that we played a small part in honoring veterans, some who gave it all, is incredibly humbling,” said seventh-grader Hayden Harrell.
