Middle school Mavs drop three games
It was a hard week for the middle school Mavs as they lost three games this week.
In their first game on Wednesday, April 7, the Mavs lost 12-1 to Oak Ridge in a reversal of the team’s previous 12-2 win over the Wildcats the week before.
Reece Wilkerson pitched for the Mavericks that game, finishing with six strikeouts and a 2.25 WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched).
The Mavs played two games on Saturday, starting off with Powell in the morning. The Mavs lost that game 10-2, struggling to hold Powell in check despite both Tripp Haire and Noah Parks both pitching for the Mavs and coming away with three strikeouts apiece.
Finally, the Mavs faced Morristown West, dropping nine runs in the second inning to give the other school a massive head-start that the Mavs couldn’t come back from. Blake Lowe and Easton Beaty both pitched for the Mavs that game, finishing with a single strikeout apiece. Lowe also finished with eight first-pitch strikes, while Beaty finished with three.
