Wayne Smith joins ‘Million Mile’ club

WAYNE SMITH
In a ceremony held recently at the Clinton Post Office, rural carrier Wayne Smith was presented with a plaque and pin signifying his induction into the prestigious “Million Mile Club” sponsored by the National Safety Council.

Smith has driven 30 years with the Postal Service without a single preventable motor-vehicle accident.

To be qualified for Million Mile Club status, a professional driver must have driven accident-free for either 30 years or a million miles.

“A lot has changed since I started as a rural carrier associate in 1991,” said Smith, adding “I feel every mile, every day.”

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
