The Anderson County High School football Mavericks hosted 6A power Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett last Friday.

And the Mavs … Well, they looked good.

Really good.

Anderson County had a very balanced attack on offense.

They were led by junior Gavin Noe with eight carries for 126 yards, who picked up where he left off on his all-state sophomore campaign.

Mav signal caller Walker Martinez was in mid-season form with 22 completions in 26 attempts for 310 yards.

On the other side of the ball, the Mavs were helped by a strong defensive front led by senior linebacker Zach Shannon and junior linebacker Eli Davis.

Junior Jermaine Allen and sophomore Daylen Cole had pick-sixes as the Mavs scored six times on the night.

The Indians put up one score.

Anderson County High School opens the football season at Powell on August 20.
