AC Fair organizers looking for E.T.’s contacts

There is only one E.T Stamey.

That sentiment has been voiced repeatedly since an emergency health issue forced the Clinton icon to the sidelines in December.

Stamey is the driving force, along with the Clinton City School System, of the Clinton Blaze. The program has been recognized by the state of Tennessee.

Of the many hats Stamey wears, the role he takes with the Anderson County Fair is sometimes overlooked.

The county fair is award-winning because of the work that goes into it.

The “Best Six Days of Summer” actually start on that seventh day — when the fair closes and preparations for the next year begin.

And Stamey has always been a part of that preparation.

“E.T. is vital in putting the fair together,” Anderson County Fair President Steve Queener said.

“But we don’t know what E.T. knows,” he said.

Stamey, who is in charge of entertainment, commercial vendors, exhibit assignments, and just a lot of stuff, always know when to say when — as it were.

“We have limited space and E.T. always knew when to stop,” Queener said.

The problem is, right now, as the fair draws closer (and it’s always closer than you think), previous arrangements by Stamey are unknown.

“While E.T. is recovering, getting his strength back, we (The Fair Board) would just those who have been in contact with E.T., who have made arrangements with E.T., or who were planning to make arrangements with him … Just reach out and talk with us,” Queener said.

You know the old saying about the devil is in the details …

Queener wants the 2022 version of the “Best Six Days of Summer” to run as smooth as it always has — and it will.

But you can never have enough information.

If you have been in contact with E.T. Stamey about participating in the 2022 Anderson County Fair, please contact Fair President Steve Queener at (865) 850-2557.
