Leadership 101

For Chase Glandon, leading the way includes in the classroom

Clinton High School football Dragon Chase Glandon has stepped up not only entering his senior year, but in prior years, leading workouts and stretches, but also being a leader in the classroom.

In June, Glandon, and several other students from the Anderson County School System went to a leadership camp at Austin Peay State University, where they stayed in dorms and learned what it was like to be in college.

Just this week, Chase Glandon was offered his first collegiate scholarship, to Maryville College.

“Clinton football is everything to me,” he said. “I have so much love and pride for this program. From the love and leadership from the coaches, to the brotherhood between the players. Clinton is my home and this team is my family.”

When it comes to the football team, Glandon is the first one in the film room, on the practice field, and in the weight rooms, and is the last player to leave. He puts in extra work with any coach willing to help, and will work with not only his fellow seniors, but players of all ages, to make sure they know what to do.

When asked about Coach Darell Keith, Glandon says he is “an awesome head coach.”

“He pushes us to our limit each and every day,” he said. “Whether it be on the field, in the weight room, or in the classroom, Coach (Keith) pushes us to be the best people, students and football players we can be. I couldn’t imagine playing for another head coach.”

“High school has seemingly flown by, and it’s finally senior year,” Glandon said. “The thing I am looking forward to the most is playing my last season with my best friends. I’ve played with some of them for 12 years now. My teammates are one of the many reasons I love the game so much. They pick me up when I get knocked down and give everything they have to win. I love my teammates and coaches.” wouldn’t be where I am without them.”
