Memorial United Methodist’s food pantry now in 14th year
Church will offer flu shot clinic Nov. 3
The church’s congregation was eager to get behind the project and has donated generously to the community through these past 14 years.
The Food Pantry is open from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of every month, with the entrance at the back of the church on North Hicks Street.
A variety of non-perishable foods is offered on both Thursdays. Additionally, fresh foods such as bread, eggs, milk, and produce are available on the first Thursday, and cleaning and hygiene products are distributed on the third Thursday.
All that is required is a name and phone number. Participants do not have to live in the city limits of Clinton.
In the 14 years since the Food Pantry began, not only have the needs of the Clinton community grown, but likewise the hearts of the church have as well.
Now, in addition to the twice-monthly food distribution, gently used clothing has been added.
And in early 2022, a church member built a blessing box, which is located at the rear of the church on North Hicks Street, where food and other items are kept stocked for anyone who needs a helping hand at any time.
Community members are free to take what they need or to leave something to share with others. It’s wonderful to see how the blessing box has been a help to our community.
As an added service, a flu-shot clinic will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 3, during the Food Pantry distribution from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Anyone in the community is welcome to receive a flu shot. Please bring your insurance, TN Care, or Medicare card.
Memorial United Methodist Church is a loving and helpful part of Clinton. The church is always looking for ways to share in the community, and is a welcoming church. Sunday worship includes coffee and donuts at 9 a.m., followed by children’s, youth, and adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., and sanctuary worship at 10:30 a.m.
The church is led by Pastor Scott Wilks and worship leader Josh Allen.
